MINUTES OF THE OPEN MEETING OF THE FIRE & POLICE COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF ARLINGTON HEIGHTS HELD IN THE HR CONFERENCE ROOM ON JULY 30, 2025 Commissioner Dean Walsh called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to review and approve previous meeting minutes, discuss keeping the Closed Session Minutes closed from 11/1/2024 through 5/14/2025 per Open Meetings Act 5ILCS 1201 2 (c) (21), interview Police Officer candidates as part of the background process, discuss the eligibility of specific Police Officer candidates, and approve the new entry-level Police Officer eligibility list for 2025. Roll call of members: Dean Walsh, Chairperson Lynn Szabo, Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso, Commissioner Also present were: Kelly Livingston, Fire & Police Commission Liaison Greg Czernecki, Deputy Police Chief Christopher Sefton, Police Commander Citizens to be heard: No one in attendance Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso moved to review and approve the Open Session minutes of May 14, 2025. Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo. Motion approved. Roll call: Ayes: Walsh, Szabo, Ramirez-Alonso Nayes: None At 3:02p.m. Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso moved to go into Closed Session per 5ILCS120/2(c) (1): appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees or legal counsel. Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo. Motion approved. Roll call: Ayes: Walsh, Szabo, Ramirez-Alonso Nayes: None At 3:57 p.m. Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso moved to end Closed Session and go to Open Session. Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo. Roll call: Ayes: Walsh, Szabo, Ramirez-Alonso Nayes: None At the conclusion of the interviews for Police Officer, the Board determined the individuals to have met the criteria and continued the candidate in the process. Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso made a motion to continue applicant, candidate JO in the process for Police Officer, pursuant to the Board of Fire and Police Commission Rule, Section 3.5 Police Department Staff Interviews, Background Investigation and Medical Exams. Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo. Motion approved. Roll call: Ayes: Walsh, Szabo, Ramirez-Alonso Nayes: None Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso made a motion to continue applicant, candidate JG in the process for Police Officer, pursuant to the Board of Fire and Police Commission Rule, Section 3.5 Police Department Staff Interviews, Background Investigation and Medical Exams. Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo. Motion approved. Roll call: Ayes: Walsh, Szabo, Ramirez-Alonso Nayes: None Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso made a motion to approve the new rolling 2025 Police Officer Eligibility List – July 2025. Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo. Motion approved.
