Minutes for Special Events Commission Meeting on September 10, 2025
The meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m. by Commission Chair Brad Katz.
Commissioners in attendance included Kelly Barash, Cari Boyle, Jennifer Eichorn, Colleen Gaughan,
Michelle Harris, Diane Jamieson, Brad Katz, Laurie Mitchell, Kevin Seifert, and Tripp Turchik.
Also present: Staff Liaison Avis Meade
Commissioners Absent: Steve Fromm, Matt Fink, Keri Stanley
A motion to approve minutes from August 13, 2025 was made by Brad Katz with a second from Tripp
Turchik.
OLD BUSINESS
- Autumn Harvest
Autumn Harvest is on Saturday, October 11th, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at North School Park.
Commissioners planned logistics for the event including ensuring vendor contracts and
payments were completed. Staff will follow up with Public Works regarding parking restrictions
on Evergreen, north of St. James to be in place for the event. Marketing and advertising efforts
will continue.
- Tree Lighting
The 2025 Tree Lighting at North School Park and Festive Fun at Harmony Park will be on
Thursday, Nov. 28th, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Vendors are booked including circulating trolleys, an
accessible van, live reindeer, ice carvers, and photographer. A $300 stipend will be paid to
Rolling Meadows Madrigals and Hersey Singers. Signage stored from last year will be revisited.
- Hearts of Gold 2026
The event will take place at Rolling Green Country Club on Sunday, Feb. 22nd, 12 - 4 p.m. Staff
will update and activate the nomination form. Marketing & promotion of submissions will begin.
Timeline includes beginning to solicit for nominee submissions from Sept – Oct. The winners will
be picked in November and by December we will begin announcing and advertising the sale of
tickets.
NEW BUSINESS: None
OTHER
A commissioner from the Village’s Commissions for Citizens with Disabilities has expressed interest in
potentially hosting an event in 2026. The Special Events Commission has been asked to provide
feedback with planning of the event, if requested. More information to come.

Kelly Barash.
