Please call the City Clerk's Office at (630) 256-3070 with questions. ROLL CALL Mayor Irvin called this Special City Council meeting to order at 1:01 p.m. and the roll was called. Present: 13 - Alderman Emmanuel Llamas, Alderwoman Juany Garza, Alderman Ted Mesiacos, Alderman Bill Donnell, Alderman Carl Franco, Alderman Mike Saville, Alderwoman Scheketa Hart-Burns, Alderwoman Patty Smith, Alderman Edward Bugg, Alderwoman Shweta Baid, Alderman Ron Woerman, Alderman Sherman Jenkins and Mayor Richard Irvin APPOINTMENT OF SERGEANT-AT-ARMS A motion was made by Alderwoman Hart-Burns and seconded by Alderwoman Garza to appoint a Sergeant-At-Arms for this meeting. The motion carried by voice vote. Officer Luna served as Sergeant-At-Arms for this meeting. PUBLIC COMMENT The City Clerk read the rules of public comment and the following individuals addressed the City Council: 1. Casildo Casey Cuevas spoke regarding ward remapping. 2. Sandi Schmitt spoke regarding ward remapping. 3. Curtis Wilson spoke regarding ward remapping. City of Aurora Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes - Final August 29, 2022 BUSINESS Consideration of motions to reconsider, amend, and adopt item 22-0559 22-0559 An Ordinance amending Sec. 2-16 of the Code of Ordinances and providing for the redistricting of the City. Rick Veenstra, Corporation Counsel - City of Aurora, spoke and responded to questions regarding this item. A motion was made by Alderwoman Hart-Burns and seconded by Alderman Jenkins to reconsider the prior Motion to Approve item 22-0559. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 12 - Alderman Llamas, Alderwoman Garza, Alderman Mesiacos, Alderman Donnell, Alderman Franco, Alderman Saville, Alderwoman Hart-Burns, Alderwoman Smith, Alderman Bugg, Alderwoman Baid, Alderman Woerman, Alderman Jenkins A motion was made by Alderwoman Hart-Burns and seconded by Alderwoman Garza to amend item 22-0559 as previously adopted on August 23, 2022 by substituting the proposal designated Map 2A as the Redistricting Plan for the City, and making other changes pertaining to the implementation of the Redistricting Plan, and pertaining to a special census as more fully set forth in the agenda packet. The motion to amend carried by the following vote: Aye: 12 - Alderman Llamas, Alderwoman Garza, Alderman Mesiacos, Alderman Donnell, Alderman Franco, Alderman Saville, Alderwoman Hart-Burns, Alderwoman Smith, Alderman Bugg, Alderwoman Baid, Alderman Woerman, Alderman Jenkins A motion was made by Alderwoman Hart-Burns and seconded by Alderman Franco to approve item 22-0559 as amended. The motion to Approve as Amended carried by the following vote: Aye: 12 - Alderman Llamas, Alderwoman Garza, Alderman Mesiacos, Alderman Donnell, Alderman Franco, Alderman Saville, Alderwoman Hart-Burns, Alderwoman Smith, Alderman Bugg, Alderwoman Baid, Alderman Woerman and Alderman Jenkins Enactment No: O22-063 ADJOURN A motion was made by Alderwoman Hart-Burns and seconded by Alderman Franco to adjourn this meeting.
