ROLL CALL Members present: Kim Bright, Timothy Brown, Rajesh Char, Ginger Ingram, Andrea McMillian, Curtis Wilson (6). Members absent: Lily Rocha - arrived at 6:19 p.m. (1). OTHERS PRESENT Others present: Jeff Anderson, IT Deputy CIO; Erick Davis, IT Service Desk Coordinator; Frankie Zepeda, IT Service Desk Engineer; Michele Clark, Community Affairs Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Approval of the Minutes of the Thursday, January 19, 2023, Civilian Review Board Meeting. Member Brown made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Vice Chair Char. The motion carried by roll call vote as follows: Ayes: 6 - Kim Bright, Timothy Brown, Rajesh Char, Ginger Ingram, Andrea McMillian, Curtis Wilson. Nayes: 0. Absent: 1 - Lily Rocha - arrived at 6:19 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENT None. REPORT OF THE CHAIR Chair Bright briefly presented a report including information about a meeting with the Mayor Richard Irvin, Chief Management Officer Alex Alexandrou, Chief Cross, Deputy Chief Thomas, Deputy Chief of Staff Alex Voigt, Asst Corporation Counsel Nydia Molina, and Asst Corporation Counsel Deb Lang on February 1, 2023 regarding scenario-based training, refresher trainings when the two new members join the board, IT issues, recurring meetings with the Mayor, recommendations for recruitment, developing a list of communications for outreach efforts with the public. SUPPORT City of Aurora Page 1 Civilian Review Board Meeting Minutes - Final February 16, 2023 Jeff Anderson, IT Deputy CIO, provided a presentation on recurring IT issues that board members are experiencing and some 2023 initiatives that IT is looking forward to rolling out. STATUS ON NEW MEMBERS Board Secretary Chanel Kassis provided an update from the Mayor's Office regarding the status of new members. The Mayor's Office reached out to two possible candidates and are awaiting follow up. They will certainly provide updates to the board as they become available. The Mayor's Office will continue to look for additional and future candidates as well. NEW BUSINESS Analysis of CRB Review of APD Complaints - 08/2021 - Present Held over. OLD BUSINESS 2022-0151 - Chief's Disposition Reviewed. 2022-0201 - CRB Recommendation to the Chief - Draft Member McMillian made a motion to approve the CRB Recommendation to the Chief in Case 2022-0201, seconded by Vice Chair Char. The motion carried by roll call vote as follows: Ayes: 7 - Kim Bright, Timothy Brown, Rajesh Char, Ginger Ingram, Andrea McMillian, Lily Rocha, Curtis Wilson. Nayes: 0. 2022-0257 - CRB Recommendation to the Chief - Draft Member Ingram requested a correction to the recommendation. Member Ingram made a motion to approve the CRB Recommendation to the Chief in Case 2022-0257, seconded by Member McMillian. The motion carried by roll call vote as follows: Ayes: 7 - Kim Bright, Timothy Brown, Rajesh Char, Ginger Ingram, Andrea McMillian, Lily Rocha, Curtis Wilson. Nayes: 0. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Member McMillian, seconded by Vice Chair Char to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried by voice vote.
