Downer Place Aurora, IL 60507 Meeting Minutes - Final Thursday, January 18, 2024 6:00 PM City Hall - Fifth Floor Civilian Review Board Civilian Review Board Meeting Minutes - Final January 18, 2024 CALL TO ORDER Chair Wilson called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. and the roll was called. ROLL CALL Members present: Ginger Ingram, Andrea McMillian, Curtis Wilson (3). Members absent: Kim Bright, Timothy Brown (2). OTHERS PRESENT Others present: Deputy Chief Matthew Thomas; Aurora Police Department and one member of the public. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 24-0037 Approval of the Minutes of the Thursday, November 16, 2023, Civilian Review Board Meeting. Member Ingram made a motion to make a correction to the minutes to include the resignation of Member Char at the November meeting under the Announcements section, seconded by Member McMillian. The motion carried by voice vote. Member McMillian made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Member Ingram. The motion carried by voice vote. PUBLIC COMMENT One member of the public was presented and addressed the Civilian Review Board. George Gutierrez received three minutes to address the board. PRESENTATION / GUEST SPEAKER None. NEW BUSINESS 24-0038 2023-0091 - Chief's Disposition Member McMillian made a motion to approve 2023-0091 - Chief's Disposition, seconded by Member Ingram. The motion carried by voice vote. City of Aurora Page 1 Civilian Review Board Meeting Minutes - Final January 18, 2024 24-0039 2024 Education and Training Ideas Chair Wilson presented a tracking spreadsheet that he has created and explained each column to the Board. Chair Wilson presented APD Initiative Topics for CRB Training and Awareness and spoke about each topic. Board members discussed which topics should be presented. ANNOUNCEMENTS Member Bright will be resigning from the Civilian Review Board on March 1, 2024. Member Ingram announced that the City of Aurora LGBTQ Advisory Board is hosting a New Year Exordium Social Mixer on January 26, 2024 from 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Zephyr Room in Two Brothers Roundhouse. CLOSED SESSION Consideration and Adoption of the Board's Recommendations to the Chief of Police Regarding Pending Civilian Complaints None. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Member McMillian, seconded by Member Ingram to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried by voice vote.
