To be noted on record: the signs posted on each floor and the elevator announcing the location of the Civilian Review Board meeting incorrectly stated that the meeting would be held in the Council Chambers on the second floor, the signs were fixed to correctly state that the meeting would be held on the fifth floor. ROLL CALL Members present: Timothy Brown, Ginger Ingram, Curtis Wilson (3). Members absent: Andrea McMillian (1). OTHERS PRESENT Others present: Nydia Molina, Assistant Corporation Counsel; Lieutenant Patrick Camardo, Aurora Police Department, Norma Peterson, Executive Director of Document the Abuse; and one member of the public. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 24-0294 Approval of the Minutes of the Thursday, February 15, 2024, Civilian Review Board Meeting. Member Brown made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Member Ingram. The motion was carried by voice vote. PUBLIC COMMENT None. PRESENTATION / GUEST SPEAKER Norma Peterson, Executive Director of Document the Abuse, presented to the Civilian Review Board about how victims of any type of abuse can utilize this web-based app for their own safety. Document the Abuse houses Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit (EAA) and allows victims to document their abuse and use that information in a legal format. NEW BUSINESS 24-0295 Updated Member Guide for Boards, Commissions, and Councils Chair Wilson highlighted some important sections in the Updated Member Guide for Boards, Commissions, and Councils. Wednesday, June 12, 2024 - Ethics Training; virtual. Wednesday, September 18, 2024 - Social Media Training; virtual. CPR and AED Training: Friday, April 19, 2024 - 9am-1pm Monday, April 29, 2024 - 6pm-10pm Monday, May 13, 2024 - 9am-1pm Monday, May 29, 2024 - 6pm-10pm OLD BUSINESS 24-0299 New Member Update Member Ingram made a motion to hold this agenda item for a subsequent meeting, seconded by Vice Chair Brown. Consideration and Adoption of the Board's Recommendations to the Chief of Police Regarding Pending Civilian Complaints Chair Wilson called the Open Session meeting to order at 7:29 p.m. and the roll was called. Member Ingram made a motion to request Legal to draft the CRB Recommendation to the Chief for 2023-0252, seconded by Vice Chair Brown. The motion was carried by a roll vote as follows: Ayes: 3 - Timothy Brown, Ginger Ingram, Curtis Wilson. Nayes: 0. Absent: 1 - Andrea McMillian. ANNOUNCEMENTS Chair Wilson announced that the City of Aurora Veterans Advisory Council is hosting a golf outing on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Phillips Park Golf Course. Member Ingram announced that the City of Aurora Public Art will host an exhibition of Faces of Homelessness, a series of photographic work by renowned artist Jeffrey A. Wolin from Friday, April 5, 2024 through Saturday, May 11, 2024. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Vice Chair Brown, seconded by Member Ingram to adjourn the meeting.
