MAYOR’S REPORT
Mayor Irvin announced that for this year's National Night Out on August 1, 2017 there
will be 45 locations across Aurora taking part in the event. As a result for the
Committee Of the Whole meeting for August 1, 2017 it was suggested by Alderman
Bugg to change the start time of the meeting to 4:00 PM instead of 5:00 PM. There
was no objection.
ALDERMAN'S CORNER
Alderman Franco from Ward 5 reported the following projects he was working on:
sound barrier along Orchard Road; creating an economic plan for the ward with
Invest Aurora; shredding event in wards 4, 5, 6 ward on 7/29; meeting space in West
Plaza; newsletter in the fall; Aurora Veterans Advisory Council- car show 7/29 at
West Plaza.
Ward 1- 7/21 6:30 - 8:30 Magic and Music at Garfield Park; Ward 2: ice cream social
8/13 at McCarty Park and 9/15 Pioneers breaskfast; Ward 6: 7/29 shred event,
closing on carsons this thursday; Ward 7: Back to School Festival on 8/20 at Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Park; Ward 8: this week Park Ave event, groups going to
Steve Miller concert on thursday, Georgetown summer camp coming to a close, 6th
year of Shop Local, National Night Out; Ward 9: opening of McDonalds in the ward,
Shop Local in august, 8/19 recycle, clean-up, and blood drive event; Ward 10: giving
away tickets at Dairy Queen for the Harry Potter Festival on 7/30; Alderman At Large
O'Connor: no specific; Alderman At Large Jenkins: community job fair 7/21 at Prisco
Community Center from 10AM - 2PM.
