City Hall - 2nd Floor Council City of Aurora Chambers 44 East Downer Place Aurora, IL 60507 Public Health, Safety, and Transportation Committee Meeting Minutes - Final Tuesday January 24, 2023 4:00 PM Chairperson Scheketa Hart-Burns Vice Chair Bill Donnell Alderwoman Juany Garza Alderman Ted Mesiacos Alderman Mike Saville Members of the public wishing to provide public comment for this meeting must be physically present at the meeting and registered to speak prior to the meeting being called to order. Please contact the Aldermen’s Office at (630) 256-3020 with questions. CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Hart-Burns called the meeting to order at 4:02 PM. ROLL CALL Present: 5 - Chairperson Scheketa Hart-Burns, Vice Chair Bill Donnell, Alderwoman Juany Garza, Alderman Ted Mesiacos and Alderman Mike Saville APPROVAL OF MINUTES 23-0042 Approval of the minutes from the Public Health, Safety and Transportation Committee meeting held on January 10, 2023 . A motion was made by Alderwoman Garza, seconded by Alderman Saville, that this agenda item be accepted and filed. The motion carried. Ayes: 5 PUBLIC COMMENT AGENDA City of Aurora Page 1 Public Health, Safety, and Meeting Minutes - Final January 24, 2023 Transportation Committee 23-0051 A Resolution Approving the 2023 Quality of Life Grants in the amount of $1,050,800 Chris Ragona, Community Development A motion was made by Alderman Saville, seconded by Alderman Mesiacos, that this agenda item be recommended for approval. The motion carried. After discussion, Legal Counsel advised Chairperson Hart-Burns to abstain from voting on this item, Chairperson Hart-Burns stated she's only abstaining from Aspire - Persevere - Succeed Training Academy, voted no for Cities in Schools and voted yes for the rest of this item. Ayes: 4 Abstain: 1 23-0052 A Resolution Authorizing Approval of the 2023 Annual Action Plan and Annual Action Plan Substantial Amendment 2023-#1Funding Recommendations Chris Ragona, Community Development A motion was made by Alderman Saville, seconded by Vice Chair Donnell, that this agenda item be recommended for approval. The motion carried.
