1. Call to Order/Pledge of Allegiance/Roll Call
Meeting called to order by Lena Erickson at 5:36 PM.

2. Approval of Minutes from August 14, 2025
Thomas Duarte motioned to approve the minutes from the August 14, 2025, BYC meeting. Natalie
Eng seconded, motion passes.
3. Presentation of Transportation Master Plan
Andrew Blanchard opened the presentation by providing information on the Transit Master Plan,
highlighting how the city's rapid growth has increased demand for accessible transportation options.
The plan will be focused on serving seniors, low-income residents, youth in extracurriculars, and
workers through survey-driven data. A proposed micro transit program would offer subsidized ride
services within city limits.
4. Team Building Activity
The team completed the Minefield team building activity. This exercise highlighted the value of clear
communication and teamwork.
5. Meet in Committees
Civic Engagement: Flyers with a community survey will be distributed throughout Buckeye to gather
residents’ needs and feedback. The collected data will help guide the planning of a major event in
March. Additionally, a food drive is planned for December.
Community Outreach: A holiday-themed event featuring hot cocoa, arts and crafts, and games will be
hosted before the Glow on Monroe to engage the community and promote holiday spirit.
6. Volunteer Events/Opportunities
Alexa Mercado Garay shared the volunteer opportunity tracking sheet with the Youth Council and
discussed upcoming events.
7. Comments from the Buckeye Youth Councilmembers
Lamarion Buie summarized the League of Arizona Cities and Towns Conference, highlighting
interactions with other youth councils and presenting the flag alongside the Vice Mayor. Savannah
Sanchez provided an overview of the committee for the West Valley Youth Summit in November,
which will focus on financial literacy.
8. Adjournment
There being no further business to discuss, Co-Chair Scylee Groseth adjourned the meeting at 7:10
PM.
