At the council meeting Charles Dillard said that planning should not be done by MOU but that we should start working on a comprehensive public community plan for Ward 1 much as NNE and South End. Unanimously approved All our gratitude goes to Tom Derenthal who has served the NPA so well over the past many years!!!!! 6:40 - Speakout - an opportunity to raise concerns & appreciations about Ward 1 community • TDM Plan (multiple speakers) (see announcement, above) • UVMMOU is waking up, but will likely not gain momentum until a new President is announced • Steering Committee does have true influence over the operations of the city • Quakers demanded no ICE in places of worship; Sued; Won! • Thanks for voting on Town Meeting Day – appreciation of respectfulness at NPA meetings 7:00 - City Council update - Carter Neubieser and welcome to Allie Schacter • CC approved adding 33 student beds for Champlain College • Prioritize sustainable funding for buses -resolution to Legislature • Unanimous vote to extend security contract for parking garages • Concern about housing quality and adherence to code in UVM dorms – UVM self-certifies; exempt from inspection. Students need to report! • Vote on CC inspection of warming shelter resolution postponed 7:20 - School Commissioner update - Gary Golden and welcome to Matt Price • Thanks for passing the budget! • Risks from Federal Administration – Title I, IX; Special Ed, IDA • Fall 2026 for new HS opening, exterior complete!!
