Introduction and roll call:
Mr. Grant called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
Members present:
Bruce Ashby, Kevin Clark, Tom Grant-Chair, Gary Martin, Ed Van Awken, and John Williams
Member Absent:
April McCreary
Special reports:
A Julie survey will be ordered for the Park by Mark McDaniel, City Arborist, in the next two weeks to
determine existing utilities on site i.e., water, sewer, cable and gas.
New business:
A work committee is being organized to investigate and obtain bricks from the Murphysboro Gas &
Electric Plant that was recently demolished. Will Smith, Mayor of Murphysboro, is donating the bricks to
be used for the development of Founds Park.
Old business:
Madison Case an independent videographer is a potential candidate to produce the Parks’ YouTube
promotional videos.
Update on progress of layout drawings -
In her absence, April McCreary sent an updated virtual rendering of the Park to Mr. Grant to be
shared with the Park committee members.
Compilation and editing of the narrative pages for the Park brochure –
Mr. Grant and Mr. Van Awken are still working on the brochure. They are continuing to collect
visual images to help portray the Park concept; and they are formatting the collective material
in a Publisher file to facilitate the editing process.
Outreach to the Masonry Council –
Mr. Grant will contact Bill Orell liaison for the downstate laborers Union.
Private/public partnership:
Discussion on possible NRPA assistance program.
None.
Possible local, county, state, and federal assistance

Mr. Clark has identified a potential grant opportunity with the IDNR.
General comments
Bruce Ashby will bring historical reproductions from the Maycock book so the material can be properly
cited.
