ROLL CALL Present: 11 - Mayor Vi Lyles, Mayor Pro Tem Julie Eiselt, Council Member Dimple Ajmera, Council Member Tariq Scott Bokhari, Council Member Ed Driggs, Council Member Larken Egleston, Council Member LaWana Mayfield, Council Member James Mitchell, Council Member Matt Newton, Council Member Greg Phipps, and Council Member Braxton Winston II AUN: 1- Council Member Justin Harlow ART WORK REVEAL Leigh Williams, LB Williams Art revealed the artwork created by Council members at this year's Council Retreat. 1. 15-7676 Committee Chair Report-Outs Council member Ajmera, Chairperson provided a report for the Environment Committee. Council member Harlow arrived at 5:22 p.m. Council member Phipps, Chairperson provided a report for the Transportation and Planning Committee. Council member Mitchell, Chairperson provided a report for the Economic Development Committee. Council member Eiselt, Chairperson provided a report for the Community Safety Commiittee. Finally, Council member Mayfield provided a report for the Housing and Neighborhood Development Committee. ROLL CALL Present: 12 - Mayor Vi Lyles, Mayor Pro Tem Julie Eiselt, Council Member Dimple Ajmera, Council Member Tariq Scott Bokhari, Council Member Ed Driggs, Council Member Larken Egleston, Council Member Justin Harlow, Council Member LaWana Mayfield, Council Member James Mitchell, Council Member Matt Newton, Council Member Greg Phipps, and Council Member Braxton Winston II 2. 15-7693 Unified Development Ordinance - Place Types Taiwo Jaiyeoba, Planning Director provided an update regarding the Unified Development Ordinance and Place Types. 3. 15-7694 2018 Federal and State Legislative Agendas A motion was made by Council Member Winston II and seconded by Council Member Mayfield to Approve the Federal and State Legislative Agendas. The motion carried unanimously. City of Charlotte Page 1 Printed on 3/6/2018 City Council Strategy Session Meeting Minutes March 5, 2018 4. 15-7678 Closed Session (as necessary) A motion was made by Council Member Bokhari and seconded by Council Member Driggs to Go into Closed Session pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(3) to consult with attorneys employed or retaineed by the City in order to preserve the attorney-client privilege and to consider and give instructions to the attorneys concnerning the handling or settlement of Michael Clumpner and Jeffrey Matthews v. City of Charlotte - 17 CVS 15741. The motion carried unanimously. unanimously. RECESS The meeting recessed at 8:22 p.m. to go into closed session in Room 267. The City Council went back into open session at 8:45 p.m. in Room 267. OPPORTUNITY ZONES A motion was made by Council Member Egleston and seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Eiselt to Approve the 14 Opportunity Zones identified by staff while prioritizing the following 7: 2 in Beatties Ford, 2 for Eastland, 2 for North Tryon and 1 on the North End). The motion carried unanimously. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Council Member Mitchell and seconded by Council Member Mayfield to Adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously.
