CITY OF CORAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA CORAL SPRINGS CHARTER SCHOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING SUMMARY Wednesday, November 5, 2025 Commission Chambers, City Hall 8:30 AM 9500 West Sample Road Coral Springs, Florida 33065 Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Simmons at 8:41 a.m. Roll Call Chair Nancy Metayer Bowen (Attended via telephone) Vice Chair Joshua Simmons Board Member Scott Brook Board Member Shawn Cerra Board Member Joseph McHugh Also in attendance: City Manager Catherine Givens Deputy City Attorney John Hearn Education Officer April Wyche City Clerk Georgia Elliott Moment of Silence Pledge of Allegiance Coral Springs Charter School Students Public Comment: None Consent Motion: To approve Consent Item 1. Result: Passed 5 – 0 (Unanimously) Mover: Board Member Brook Seconder: Board Member McHugh 1. Minutes Approval (Georgia Elliott) Request to approve the meeting summary of October 15, 2025 Regular Meeting. (REQUEST TO APPROVE) Policy Formation and Direction 2. Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Amendment (Rita Weaver) The preliminary expenditures for the FY2025 Charter School Fund are projected to exceed the budget by $875,526, for a total new expenditure of $19,954,557. The increase in expenditure is covered by the increase in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds received in the Fiscal Year. (REQUEST TO APPROVE) The item was explained by Sr. Director of Board Governance Rita Weaver. Discussion ensued. City Manager Givens explained how funds are allocated for the Charter School. Motion: To approve the increase of the FY2025 Charter School Fund expenditures by $875,526, for a total of $19,954,557, covered by additional ESSER funds. Result: Passed 5 – 0 (Unanimously) Mover: Board Member Brook Seconder: Board Member McHugh Principal Communications 3. Principal's Report (Jodi Robins) • The Principal’s Report was presented by Principal Robins. • Principal Robins highlighted current and past school events and accomplishments, including the successful Charter School USA National Education Conference; students competing at the state level in swimming; golf team becoming regional champion; and the student exam schedule. • Principal Robins expressed appreciation to the Commissioners for their recent school visit to engage with students. Board Communications • The Board commended school staff for their exemplary leadership. • The attending Charter School students were recognized for their engagement and insightful questions. • Volunteer and internship opportunities were mentioned.
