DEKALB TAYLOR MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES March 27, 2018 Vice Chairman Bernie Pupino called the meeting to order at 7:04pm. Roll Call: Paul Borek, Matt Duffy, Gary Hanson, Ryan James, Bernard Pupino, Jim Rhoades. Absent: Tom Cleveland, Robert Owens. Guests: Mayor Jerry Smith, Tim Holdeman, Bessie Chronopoulos, Patrick Didiana. APPROVAL OF AGENDA- Motion by Bernie Pupino. Seconded by Jim Rhodes. Motion passed. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION- Guest, Mayor Jerry Smith, spoke about wanting to increase the visibility of the airport and trying to have a quarterly Airport Advisory Board meeting at City Hall. Tony Faivre will be the City Council Representative to the Airport Advisory Board. APPROVAL OF MINUTES- Motion by Paul Borek. Seconded by Gary Hanson. Motion passed. OLD BUSINESS- None NEW BUSINESS- Airport Vice Chairman, Bernie Pupino, introduced Airport consultant engineer Dan Pape of Crawford, Murphy, and Tilly to discuss replacing the existing visual approach path indicator units on runway ends 2, 20, and 27 with precision approach path indicator units. The new approach indicator units would have a comparable life to what currently exists and is extremely durable. The project will take 2 months to complete. This project may result in temporary runway closures. APPROVAL OF PROPOSAL- Motion by Jim Rhoades. Seconded by Gary Hanson. Motion passed. Airport Advisory Board Vice Chairman Bernie Pupino introduced Mr. Jack Penning from Volaire Aviation to discuss the draft of the airport’s strategic plan. Mr. Penning discussed the draft strategic plan by each item and answered questions from the Board. The Board thanked Jack Penning for his presentation and agreed to meet one more time to discuss possible changes to the document. Changes to the document will be designated by Ryan James to Paul Borek to revise wording. APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATIONS- Motion by Ryan James. Seconded by Jim Rhoades. Motion passed. AIRPORT MANAGERS REPORT- None MOTION TO ADJOURN- Motion by Jim Rhoades. Seconded by Matt Duffy. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 8:57 pm.
