Board of Fire & Police Commissioners MEETING MINUTES September 18, 2015 CALL TO ORDER A special meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners was called to order on September 18, 2015 at 3:48 p.m. in the Haish Conference Room, DeKalb Municipal Building by Sam Finch, Chairman. ROLL CALL Present were Commissioners Sam Finch, Amy Polzin and Tony Chulick. Also present were Michelle Anderson, Secretary to the Board and Eric Hicks, Fire Chief. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Anderson requested the Board amend the agenda to add Approval of a request to amend the Rules and Regulations, Chapter II, Section 5. A motion was made by Polzin to amend the agenda as requested. Seconded by Chulick and approved by voice vote. A motion was made by Polzin approve the agenda as amended. Seconded by Finch and approved by voice vote. CONSIDERATIONS NONE OLD BUSINESS NONE NEW BUSINESS A. Review and discussion of information from the Fire Lieutenant Promotional Testing Process – Candidate Review Session. Anderson advised there were thirteen challenges to questions on the Lieutenant’s exam. Anderson read each question that was challenged along with the response from Stanard and Associates. The Board agreed to grant credit for question 92, by allowing credit for answers “B” and “D”. Anderson stated she would contact Stanard and Associates and advise them to grant the credit for question 92 and rescore the exams. B. Approval of a request to amend the Rules and Regulations, Chapter III B, Section 3. Chief Hicks and Anderson explained the need to establish a passing score for the entry level examination. A motion was made by Polzin to amend Chapter III B, Section 3 of the Rules and Regulations. Seconded by Chulick and approved by voice vote. C. Approval of a request amend the Rules and Regulations, Chapter II, Section 5. Anderson explained the request to change the requirement for certified Police Officers to ensure their certification was as a full time officer. A motion was made by Polzin to amend Chapter II, Section 5 of the Rules and Regulations. Seconded by Chulick and approved by voice vote. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Polzin to adjourn.
