MINUTES CITY OF DEKALB CITIZENS’ COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT COMMISSION June 15, 2020 The Citizens’ Community Enhancement Commission (CCEC) held a regular meeting on June 15, 2019, in the Community Room of the DeKalb Police Department, 700 West Lincoln Highway, DeKalb, Illinois. Management Analyst Blumenthal called the meeting to order at 4:12 P.M. Ms. Susan Johnson stepped in as acting chair. A. ROLL CALL Roll call was recorded by Management Analyst Jason Blumenthal and the following members of the CCEC were present: Ellingsworth Webb, Jeanine Holcomb, Susan Johnson, and Melissa Beck. Chair Brad Hoey was absent. Also present were Alderman Carolyn Morris and Management Analyst Jason Blumenthal. B. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA – ADDITIONS / DELETIONS MOTION Mr. Webb moved to approve the agenda; seconded by Ms. Holcomb. VOTE Motion carried by a majority voice vote of those present. C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES MOTION Mr. Webb moved to approve the CCEC minutes of December 15, 2019; seconded by Ms. Beck. VOTE Motion carried by a majority voice vote of those present. D. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION Alderman Morris stated how excited she was about having artist come to paint a mural and other artistic project that can occur throughout the City. E. NEW BUSINESS CITIZENS’ COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT COMMISSION DECEMBER 16, 2019 PAGE 2 OF 2 1. “Outside the Museum” a. Ms. Beck stated it was a great idea and that our Commission should work with the DCVB on advertising for it. The Commission concurred. 2. DeKalb Entertainment Consortium a. The Mayor and Chair Hoey worked with Paul Kassal to find people and assist in working to make DeKalb great for art. This could be an extension of the Commission and possibly meet Ad-Hoc. Looking to partner and do some fun events such as a chalk event around the NIU Lagoon. This could be the beginning of some exciting artwork. F. OLD BUSINESS 1. Paint-a-Plug/Workshop Management Analyst Blumenthal asked the Commission if doing an online video/event would work. Consensus was reached it should be investigated. G. ADJOURNMENT MOTION Ms. Holcomb moved to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Mr. Webb. VOTE Motion carried by unanimous voice vote of those present. The meeting was adjourned at 4:57 P.M.
