The meeting was called to order at 5:05 p.m. by Chair Ortiz.
Approval of the Minutes
Chief Cagann made the motion, seconded by Cmmr. Perkins to approve the December 15,
2022 minutes. Motion carried 6-0
Set meeting dates for Police Officer interviews
Liaison Bennett discussed the interview process and the number of dates needed for the 80
applicants we are conducting backgrounds on. It was discussed that at the May meeting
the Board will discuss flagged individuals from the background process and go over
questions that will be asked of the applicants during the interview process.
After discussion of possible dates the following dates were tentatively established: May 28,
June 3, 4, 11 to conduct the necessary interviews.
Additional Discussion
Chief Lalley brought up that as part of the Task Force’s recommendation they requested
that the Fire and Police Board update the Police Officer test. Chief Lalley suggested that the
Board as a whole should take the Police exam test to better determine if they feel the test is
valid or should be changed. Liaison Bennett suggested that after the police interview
process is complete, we can set a date for the board members to take the test.
Adjournment
Chief Lalley made the motion, seconded by Cmmr. Flickema to adjourn the meeting at 5:27
p.m. Motion carried 6-0.
