Board of Fire & Police Commissioners Second Floor Conference Room, South Tower August 17, 2023 5:00 p.m. Present: Chairperson Lloyd Miller Cmmr. Bill Williamson Cmmr. Eduardo Guerra Ana Lalley, Police Chief Robert Cagann, Fire Chief Cmmr. Jodi Perkins Absent: Cmmr. Aubree Flickema Staff: Tim Bennett The meeting was called to order at 5:03 p.m. by Cmmr. Miller Election of Chairperson Liaison Bennett asked the Board for nominations for chairperson. After discussion Cmmr. Miller was nominated and accepted the nomination for chairperson. After a vote of 6-0, Cmmr. Miller was elected as chairperson. Approval of the Minutes Commr. Williamson made the motion, seconded by Commr Perkins to approve the July 20, 20, 2023 minutes. Motion carried 6-0 Discuss a new firefighter testing process Chief Cagann discussed the desire to change the current written testing process for firefighters. A demonstration was held with Brendon Trayner from Gilberts, AZ that conducts the test. It if specific to firefighters and allows for public safety answers to be weighted and test questions, video interviews can all be customized and weighted. The cost is $50 per candidate and allows more flexibility. The Board decided to further explore this option and ask the department to get more information to present to the Board at a later date. Executive Session Adjournment Commr. Perkins made the motion, seconded by Chief Cagann to adjourn the meeting at 6:03 p.m. Motion carried 6-0.
