Fishers Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability Minutes 6/5/2024 BOARD/COMMISSION: Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability Meeting DATE: 6/5/2024 DIRECTIONS: Fishers Pavilion Conference Room, 10 Municipal Drive, Fishers, Indiana 46038 1. Call to Order / Roll Call The meeting of the Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability convened at 5:30 p.m.A roll call was taken. Members present: Cecilia Coble, Kelly Hartman, Wilbur Sutton, Darcy Keith, Chrissy Pogue, Michelle Steltz, Shelby Slowik and Ross Hilleary. Stacy Oldham was not present. Also present Monica Heltz, Roscoe Brown, Yollanda Kincaid, Amanda Sexton, Brad Waugh, Tracy Gaynor, Spencer Hoffman, and Kay PrangeMs. Coble called the meeting to order 2. Approval of Previous Minutes a. April 11, 2023 (Voting Item) Document Darcy Keith made a motion to approve the April 2023 meeting minutes, seconded by Kelly Hartman. Themotion passed 8-0. 3. Guest Speaker(s) a. Hamilton County Express Transportation Update Roscoe Brown, Transportation Director, and Yollanda Kincaid, President/CEO Janus Roscoe Brown, Transportation Director, and Yollanda Kincaid, President/CEO of Janus Developmental Services, presented the Hamilton County Express Transportation Update. Mr. Brown’s presentation is attached. b. Mental Health Awareness - Stigma Free Fishers powered by Credible Mind Monica Heltz, Public Health Director, Fishers Health Department Monica Heltz, Public Health Director, Fishers Health Department, presented a walkthrough of the StigmaFree Fishers website, showing an assessment. The content is powered by Credible Mind with additionalCity of Fishers content. 4. Committee Updates a. Housing (Hand Conference) – Wilbur Sutton The cost of land, labor, and materials is prohibitive. A Land Trust (such as Hamilton County Collective) would own the land b. Employment – Chrissy Pogue & Michelle Steltz Continued education of employers, reverse job fair on 10/6, events at OPG c. Community Support / Services – Kelly Hartman OTB Grand Opening on 7/10. Community Center will be located at 121st and Hoosier Road. There are rate increases from the State and Fed for in-home services and a family support waiver cap. d. Networking / Social Opportunities – Darcy Keith Welcoming, mentoring, support groups were discussed. Disability Day at Fishers Farmers Market. She has a spreadsheet of all the Awareness Days. Ally tool kits were discussed. e. Disability Ally Program – Cecilia Coble 5. Staff Communication a. Spark!Fishers Accessible Parking / Sensory Bags PlayFishers.com/634/Accessibility Spark! Fishers is this weekend. Accessibility for parking and sensory bags were discussed. Cecilia suggested that listening devices and sensory bags be available at concerts. b. Disability focused Calander of Events – ThisIsFishers.com/Events The Community calendar- https://www.thisisfishers.com/ is updated. Citizens are empowered to add to the calendar. c. Geist Waterfront Park Accessibility Features Geist Waterfront Park is open and will have a beach access mat. Kudos to Parks. 6. Announcements RHI is holding an Adaptive Sports Expo on 8/12. The OTB fundraiser will be 10/6 7. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.

Adjournment Page 2 of 4 CITY OF FISHERS FISHERS ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON DISABILITY FISHERS PAVILION MINUTES April 11, 2023 The meeting of the Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability convened at 5:30 p.m. A roll call was taken. Members present: Cecilia Coble, Kelly Hartman, Wilbur Sutton, Stacey Oldham, Darcy Keith, Chrissy Pogue, Michelle Steltz, Shelby Slowik and Ross Hilleary. Also present: Jacob Reardon McSoley, Kelsey Voss, Amy Selby, Joyce Ablog, Sean Wray, Shelly Allman. Ms. Coble called the meeting to order. Mr. Hilleary made a motion to approve the December 2022 meeting minutes, seconded by Mr. Sutton. The motion passed 9-0. Kelly Hartman gave the Committee a snapshot of March Disability Month activities and her presentation at the March Disability Awareness Mayor’s Breakfast. She announced that Outside the Box will open a Fishers location- to open July 10! Jake Reardon McSoley, Director of Recreation and Wellness for Fishers, presented the proposed Fishers Community Center. He took the Committee on a tour of the first and second floors and highlighted the recreation areas and access for those with disabilities. The location is TBD. Cecilia Coble presented the 2023 Life Without Limits award video. In the video, the award was presented to Zach Curtis. The Cornerstone Employer Award was presented to Hampton Inn & Suites. The Accessibility Award was presented to the Tsimerarkis Family. Thanks for FACC, Parks, HEPL, Staff, Ally, and all partners. 1.Committee Updates- Point of View Day a. Accessibility & Transportation –Cecilia Coble- Westfield pilot program/ridership/fueling has been expanded to more locations b. Housing – Wilbur Sutton – Real America was at the table- Southpoint Developers. There is a long waiting list for this type of housing. Affordability is an issue. c. Employment – Chrissy Pogue and Michelle Steltz Continued education of employers, reverse job fair d. Community Supports & Services – Kelly Hartman The elected officials present provided great input and were educated also. All funding and rules are made at the State and Federal level. Community support needs a deep dive. e. Recreation/Arts & Culture – Shelby Slowik There is a wealth of recreational opportunities in Fishers/Hamilton County but issues are: transportation, cost, accessibility f. Networking/Social Opportunities – Darcy Keith – Welcoming, mentoring, support groups were discussed g. Mental Health – Stacey Oldham Neuro divergence needs, FFD, First Responders, NAMI support, respite for caregivers were all discussed 1 Page 3 of 4 2. Staff Communications Accessible Housing Study – Ross Hilleary The Study overview was presented. Facilities and resources are not keeping up with demand. 3. Announcements State of Indiana General Assembly Resolution – Cecilia Coble Cecilia read the Resolution. A copy will be made for each member.
