CITY OF FISHERS AGENDA BOARD/COMMISSION: Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability DATE: 12/10/2024 at 5:30 PM DIRECTIONS: Fishers Municipal Center Theater , 1 Municipal Drive, 1st Floor , Fishers, IN 46038 In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the City of Fishers will, upon request, provide appropriate aid (i.e. interpreters) and/or assistance leading to effective participation for people with disabilities. Adjournment Page 2 of 3 CITY OF FISHERS FISHERS ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON DISABILITY Launch Fishers Theater MINUTES September 17, 2024 The meeting of the Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability convened at 5:32 p.m. Ms. Hartman called the meeting to order. A roll call was taken. Members present: Kelly Hartman, Wilbur Sutton, Darcy Keith, Chrissy Pogue, Stacy Oldham, Michelle Steltz, and Shelby Slowik. Not present: Katie Jackson, Ross Hilleary. Also present: Tracy Gaynor, Kevin Martin, Kay Prange and the 2 ASL interpreters. Guests included Sarah Gordon and Carol Stanton, and Brad Waugh. The Minutes from the 6-11-24 meeting were approved, 6-0. The first Guest Speaker was Jake Reardon McSoley, Fishers Director of Recreation and Wellness. Jake presented the Fishers Community Center Update. Discussion included the Skulski Consulting ADA plan. Jake asked for design suggestions to make the membership services desk usable for staff and accessible for disabled members. Membership categories and cost will be rolled out in 2025. FCC FACD Presentation 2024.pdf The second Guest Speaker was Brad Waugh, who presented his pictures and his experiences participating in the 1 Mile Run/Walk during Spark! Fishers on June 26, 2024. Brad noted that it was a great opportunity but as the first annual event, not enough people were aware of disabled participants. Cost may have been a deterrent. Committee Updates: Housing – Wilbur Sutton – no updates Employment- Chrissy Pogue and Michele Steltz- the Accessibility Training took place at HEPL on 8/26/24. It was a safe way to practice interviewing skills. Community Support – Kelly Hartman spoke about the election year- much is changing at the State level. Networking - Darcy spoke about Farmer’s Market Inclusion Day on 7/13/24. She presented her pictures from the event. It was a great day although very hot. The FACD table may need to be relocated next year, and a table skirt or sign made to identify the organization. 10 vendors did not show up, we may need to reconsider charging to participate.
