Now we spoke, we spoke with all his folks, we just couldn't vote on it. - Okay. - Um, you know, without going into... I had no issue with this. I don't know if-- - I reviewed it. I have no issue with it, either. - Okay. And, Dave? David or Susan? We talked about this for some time and, uh... Stephanie, I kind of went off on your description that, you know... It was the taller chimney, but it really had no effect for ventilation or where it needed to be... So we followed on that. I was good with that. I think the rest of the committee was. Last, we have the consideration with possible action on a design review for a sign permit at 412 Dousman Street. I was very impressed with the sign. I like the fact... Well, the folks came up from the pier and they like what's going on in the Broadway District so we talked about that for a while. And, you know, from what I saw, I liked what they were doing, and the sign looked really nice. - It does look nice. The red fish? - Yes. It'll blend in well with the neighborhood. So I have no issue with that. And the rest of the committee? Does anybody have anything else? Then I'll go to it's first reading at Council the week after and then the next one in August. So that'll be finalized in August if we have enough support. - Okay, so July... - Ninth. - So it'll be at Plan Commission July 9th. - Yep. - Okay, so that'll be a big day. - Yep. Jefferson is a contributing property in the Astor Historic District, built circa 1900. There is an existing asphalt roof in need of replacement. The new roof will be asphalt as well. There will be no structural changes to the roof. The proposed change will have no negative impact on the property and is in keeping with accepted best practices of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards. RECOMMENDATION Approval of the proposed roofing project. Consideration with possible action on a design review for a chimney removal at 915 S. Quincy Street. BACKGROUND 915 S. Quincy Street is a contributing property in the Astor Historic District, built in 1899. The property owner is proposing to remove the existing chimney and replace it with a gas insert. This decision was based on an inspection that noted the bad condition of the chimney. The existing chimney is only exposed on the roof and is not easily visible from the right-of-way. The proposed change will have no negative impact on the property and is in keeping with accepted best practices of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards.
