1. Reflect that Applicant will be responsible for 50% of the costs related to speed limit reductions
2. Reflect that new process shall take effect for applications received on or after January 1, 2025
• Amends Chapter 804 (Jacksonville Traffic Code), Part 4 (Speed Regulations) to establish a new
petition process for requesting and obtaining community approval for speed reduction signage or
measures by:
- Expanding eligible applicants to include any affected party, including individual citizens and
City Council Members
- Codifying Public Works' policy for payment of traffic calming measures to reflect applicant
responsibility of 100% of the improvement costs on non-cut-through roadways and 50% of the
improvement costs on cut-through roadways
- Requiring payment of applicant cost share within 60 days of invoice by City
- Requiring Public Works send affected property owners two written notifications
- Establishing that a property owner's failure to respond with an approval or denial after 60
days is deemed approval
- Keeping requirement of approval from 75% of the affected property owners prior to City
making improvements
