In compliance with Governor Pritzker’s mandate, any individual appearing in person must wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth. Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov. ROLL CALL Also Present: Greg Peerbolte, Dante DiBartolo Present Chairperson Quinn Adamowski, Peg (Marguerite) Stoiber and Deborah Summers Excused Eric Gorder APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Stoiber, seconded by Summers, that the meeting mintues from July 7, 2021 be approved. The motion carried unanimously. TMP-2739 Attachments: July 21 2021 Incubation Sbcm Minutes for Approval CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS None. NEW BUSINESS Recommendations to Address Existing Murals Chairman Quinn Adamowski led the discussion by presenting a document detailing the focus of the subcommitee work for the past two years that addresses the background of the existing murals, work to assess the murals, key findings of the assessments, recommendations concerning existing murals, process of recordation and celebrating the murals, public concerns and historical content of the murals. The subcommittee discussed edits and changes at length before the document is ready to be reviewed by the Commission . Next Steps for Committee The subcommittee will make the suggested edits to the mural findings assessment. Next it will document the condition of the sculptures and mosaics. There will be a focused discussion on their condition and locations. Sculptures & Mosaics Public Art Policy The subcommittee will take time to research public art policy from other communities and be prepared to discuss the beginning of policy development at the next meeting.
