The Governor’s Office and the Illinois Department of Public Health activated a Tier 3 mitigation plan for all regions of the
State of Illinois, effective Friday, November 20, 2020. In an effort to support these mitigation measures, the City of Joliet is
limiting in person attendance in the council chambers to 10 people.
During meetings, groups of 10 people will be staged in various locations within city hall. These groups will wait in areas with
a live feed to the meeting until the Citizens to Be Heard on Agenda items section, the Public Hearing has commenced or the
Public Comments section of the meeting has commenced. Speakers will be rotated into Council Chambers to allow
everyone an opportunity to speak.
Pursuant to the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity’s Guidelines, it is recommended that any
individual appearing in-person wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth.
Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov

A motion was made by Erick Deshaun Dorris, seconded by Crystal Malone, to approve
October 7, 2020 meeting minutes. The motion carried by the following vote:

OPPORTUNITIES TO FOCUS ON IN 2021
Grant Opportunities
Subcommittee discussed and reviewed over grant opportunities from the last
subcommittee meeting. The subcommittee discussed and looked at possible grant
opportunities with deadlines approaching in the near future.

Partnerships
Subcommittee discussed possible partnerships with local organizations, institutions, and places
within the city.
Working towards campaign, scholarship, and/or fund in honor of related work
Subcommittee discussed the ideas of having smaller events that could be virtual and outdoors. The
subcommittee discussed the importance of creating partnerships, to create opportunities and
connections.
Walk of Fame
Subcommittee discussed ideas for culminating event that could possibly take place later
in the year depending on Covid-19 restrictions.
