Under Phase 5, all sectors of the economy can resume at regular capacity with new safety guidelines and procedures. Pursuant to the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity’s Guidelines, it is recommended that any individual appearing in-person who is not fully vaccinated wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth. Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov. ROLL CALL Present Chairperson Eryn Blaser, Erick Deshaun Dorris and Crystal Malone Absent Roxianna Fuqua, Lizbeth Aviles and Christina Bourne APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Malone, seconded by Dorris, that the June 10, 2021 meeting minutes be approved. REVIEWING PAST AND CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES Grant Update The subcommittee discussed the updates on the grant that was applied for back in the spring, no further updates at this time. The subcommittee discussed other grant opportunities and the ARP ask. CCP in Conjunction with the Arts Commission Project Updates The subcommittee discussed project updates and where the project is currently. The subcommittee discussed the current drop off of art work, raffle, partnerships, and unveiling of the art pieces. FUTURE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES TO FOCUS ON IN 2021 Partnerships/Collaborations The subcommittee discussed reconnecting on opportunities with health and arts. The subcommittee discussed collaborations with the Will County Health Department and local artists. JALA The subcommittee discussed having an event that brings all the Arts in Joliet together. The subcommittee discussed planning and focusing on this event in 2022 and beyond. Art Walk The subcommittee discussed a possible collaborative event that could create partnerships with local businesses, local organizations, and the Arts Commission. The subcommittee discussed ideas, logistics, and sponsorships for this event as well as future planning. REVIEW TIMELINE FOR FUTURE ITEMS Planning for Future Funding Subcommittee Meetings The subcommittee discussed having the next meeting on Thursday, August 5th, 2021. NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION The subcommittee discussed possibly reaching out to the county about ARP funds and the investment for relief and recovery of Joliet’s creative sector. The subcommittee discussed different spaces and connective services/recreation at the county level and connecting with concepts and ideas of public art and beautification. PUBLIC COMMENT Resident Cesar Escutia inquired about the American Rescue Plan and what it entails. Erick Dorris responded. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Malone, seconded by Dorris, that the July 13, 2021 meeting be adjourned. The motion carried unanimously. This meeting will be held in an accessible location.
