Councilman Hug entered the meeting at 6:35 p.m.
Councilman Clement read a Proclamation issued by Mayor O'Dekirk proclaiming
April 29, 2022 as Arbor Day.
Rita Renwick accepted the Proclamation and briefly discussed the city's efforts
to planting trees and highlighted an Arbor Day celebration at Thomas Jefferson
School.
Councilman Clement issued the City's Challenge Coins to the three poster
contest winners.

Dr. Judy Mitchell for her.
Dr. Mitchell thanked the Mayor and Council for their recognition and highlighted

educational programs.

CITY MANAGER:
The City Manager thanked everyone for their work on getting the International Union of
Operating Engineers, Local 399 contract approved.
NEW BUSINESS (Not for Final Action or Recommendation):

PUBLIC COMMENTS:
James Lanham spoke regarding the increase of catalytic converter theft. He suggested the
city draft an ordinance to ask for identification when selling a catalytic converter. He also
suggested that the Council issue a Proclamation to honor local resident Sal Fasano, coach for

the Atlanta Braves, for his World Series win.
MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS:
Councilman Clement expressed his condolences to the Shetina family.
Councilman Guerrero congratulated those who celebrated this weekend with a rare
simultaneously celebration of three major holidays Passover, Easter, and Ramadan this past
weekend.
Councilman Hug expressed his condolences to the Shetina family. He also congratulated his
daughter for her achievements in the nursing program at the University of St. Frances.
Councilman Mudron gave visitation information for Joe Shetina at Tezak's Funeral Home.
Councilwoman Quillman gave her condolences to the Shetina family. She briefly discussed
her relationship Joe Shetina.
Councilwoman Reardon highlighted a sixth grader from Aux Sable Middle School, Sergio
Escobedo who was honored with the Citizen's Life Saving Award for saving a friend who was
chocking.
Mayor O'Dekirk gave his condolences to the Shetina family. He highlighted the Joliet
Township High School 9th Annual Robotics Team Exhibition, meeting for the I-80/Houbolt
Road extension, Congressman Foster presented an endowment to the Will/Grundy County
Health Clinic. The Mayor thanked congressman foster for his efforts in keeping Joliet at the
forefront with federal funding.

PUBLIC HEARINGS:
All evidence and testimony will be presented under oath. The petitioner will be allowed to present first. After the
petitioner is completed, interested parties will be allowed to present evidence and/or cross examine the petitioner. As
this hearing is legislative in nature and not administrative, an interested party shall be defined as someone who either
owns property within 600 feet of the proposed development site, or a member or official representative of an affected
governmental body; the remainder of those who wish to be heard shall be classified as public speakers. Interested
parties will present second. Once the interested parties have completed, public speakers will be heard. These individuals
are public speakers, so the applicable public speaking rules shall be in effect: Speakers should try to address all
comments to the council as a whole and not to any individual member, repetitive comments are discouraged, total
comment time for any one person is 4 minutes, no speaker shall engage in a debate or make direct threats or personal
attacks or be uncivil or abusive, disruptive behavior by the members of the public will not be tolerated, and the presiding
officer may limit irrelevant, immaterial, or inappropriate comments or statements.
