COMMITTEE AND STAFF REPORTS a.Staff Report Ms. Bernhard read the staff report into the record. The Lakota Group has nearly completed the Designated Historic Properties update. The Consultant has finished the St. John's Neighborhood Historic Resource Survey. Ms. Bernhard asked if the Commissioners have pictures to incorporate in the report. Ms. Bernhard gave an update the Downtown National Register of Historic Places work. The Prison National Register Historic District project is still moving forward. Ms. Johnson announced that the windows on the US Steel Administrative Building will not close, the file cabinets still need to be removed. Ms. Bernhard said that the Will County Black History Committee is still working with different groups on the Casseday House. Ms. Bernhard announced the Railroad Museum at UD Tower work is almost complete. Ms. Bernhard talked about Historic Preservation Month. Ms. Bernhard gave an update on 205 S. Eastern Avenue, the commissioners discussed the issues at the site. Mr. Mikottis asked if there was an update on the St. Mary Carmelite site. Ms. Bernhard said there is only an approved demolition permit at this time, no new permits have been applied for. The demo work has started and has mostly been completed. Ms. Johnson said someone new owns 600 N. Broadway Street. Ms. Johnson noted that she is still working on the nomination for the former Boys and Girls club building on Taylor Street and needs Ms. Bernhard to send her some contact information. Mr. Mikottis asked about the Eliza Kelly school, which is a local historic landmark, Ms. Bernhard said it continues to be vacant. b.Committee of the Whole (COW) There was no discussion on this subject. Marion Street_Staff Report Packet Ms. Bernhard read the staff report into the record. The homeowner Mr. Billy Jones, 804 W. Marion St., Joliet, IL. talked about some of the work he completed on the home. A motion was made by Sharon Merwin, seconded by Mary Beth Gannon, to approve a. Public Hearings Associated with 804 W. Petition LTHD-2-2022: Classic Bungalow Local Thematic Historic District Designation of 804 West Marion Street The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Gannon, Heinemann, Johnson, Merwin, Mikottis and Stovall b. Annual Historic Preservation Awards – Review and TMP-3656 Selection Attachments: Staff Report_Annual Awards_April 2022 Meeting A motion was made by Sharon Merwin, seconded by Candace Johnson, to approve the Joliet Historic Preservation Awards nominations of State Representative Larry Walsh Jr. and Congressman Bill Foster. The motion carried the following vote: Aye: Gannon, Heinemann, Johnson, Merwin and Stovall Absent: Adamowski, Lowry and Wright c. Certificate of Economic Hardship – Review of criteria Ms. Bernhard recommended tabling indefinitely. A motion was made by Candace Johnson, seconded by Mary Beth Gannon, to table. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Gannon, Heinemann, Johnson, Merwin, Mikottis and Stovall COMMISSIONER COMMENTS Ms. Merwin talked about the Landmark Illinois webinar that included a presentation on the old Will County Courthouse building.
