A motion was made by Sharon Merwin, seconded by Kailee Lowry, to approve
the April 27, 2022 Joliet Historic Preservation Commission
Committee-of-the-Whole Workshop Meeting Minutes. The motion carried by the
following vote:
Aye: Johnson, Merwin and Spiegel
Absent: Adamowski, Bessler, Beth Gannon, Heinemann, Mikottis and
Stovall
Abstain: Lowry and Wright

COMMITTEE AND STAFF REPORTS
a.Staff Report
Ms. Bernhard gave an update on the St. John's neighborhood historic resource survey. The
Consultant has requested additional funding to complete the survey, the City Council will
review and decide on additional fees at the November council meeting. Ms. Bernhard gave an
updates on the Downtown National Register of Historic Places project and the Railroad
museum project. Ms. Bernhard gave updates on the historic residential & commercial design
guideline projects. Ms. Bernhard gave an update on the Barrett's Hardware building hotel
project. Ms. Bernhard and the commissioners discussed the demolition of a building next to
the Barrett's Hardware building. Ms. Bernhard announced the St. Mary Carmelite Building was
sold recently and the new owners would like to open a banquet facility.
