ROLL CALL Present Councilman Cesar Cardenas and Councilman Cesar Guerrero Absent Councilman Pat Mudron ALSO PRESENT: Economic Development Director Paulina Martinez, Community Development Administrative Assistant Lauren Helland, & Media Engagement and Communications Director Rosemaria DiBenedetto. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Land Use & Economic Development Committee Meeting TMP-8414 Minutes 1-22-2025 Attachments: Minutes1-22-25.pdf A motion was made by Councilman Cesar Guerrero, seconded by Councilman Cesar Cardenas, to approve Land Use & Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes 1-22-2025. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Councilman Cardenas and Councilman Guerrero Absent: Councilman Mudron CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS None AGENDA ITEMS 2024 Business Continuity Grant Applications Eligible for TMP-8413 Awards Over $25,000 Economic Development Director Paulina Martinez provided an overview of grant applications received by the City from Chicago Street Businesses. Ms. Martinez explained how the resolution works for the 2024 continuity grants. Councilman Guerrero asked if all the business were located on Chicago Street and Ms. Martinez Confirmed. Ms. Martinez confirmed Councilman Cardenas’s question about these grants being for the entire calendar year of 2024. Councilman Guerrero asked about the application process for the grants and Ms. Martinez explained the process and eligibility. Councilman Cardenas made a statement about the grant being approved by Page 1 of 2 Land Use & Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes - Pending Approval March 27, 2025 council to retain businesses that create jobs downtown. Ms. Martinez spoke about other municipalities that have offered similar programs for local businesses. A motion was made by Councilman Cesar Guerrero, seconded by Councilman Cesar Cardenas, to approve 2024 Business Continuity Grant Applications Eligible for Awards Over $25,000. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Councilman Cardenas and Councilman Guerrero Absent: Councilman Mudron NEW OR OLD BUSINESS - NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION None PUBLIC COMMENT None ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Councilman Cesar Guerrero, seconded by Councilman Cesar Cardenas, to approve adjournment.
