Hug Herb Lande Jan Hallums Quillman Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes - Final February 2, 2021 Page 1 of 1 Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes - Final February 2, 2021 The Governor’s Office and the Illinois Department of Public Health has activated a Tier 1 mitigation plan for Region 7 (Will and Kankakee Counties). Tier 1 limits in-person meetings to 25 people or 25% of overall room capacity (whichever is less). Council Chambers allows for 10 members of the public while adhering to social distancing guidelines. During meetings, any member of the public physically present in the Council Chambers in excess of the limit will be asked to wait in another room with live feed to the meeting until the Citizens To Be Heard on Agenda Items section or Public Comments section of the meeting has commenced. Speakers will be rotated into Council Chambers to allow everyone an opportunity to speak. Pursuant to the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity’s Guidelines, it is recommended that any individual appearing in-person wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth. Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov. ROLL CALL Present Jan Hallums Quillman and Herb Lande Absent Larry E. APPROVAL OF MINUTES TMP-0874 Attachments: Minutes 11-17-20.pdf Per Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, the Minutes of the November 17, 2020 Public Safety Committee Meeting will be approved at the next meeting. Councilman Hug is not present and Councilman Lande did not attend the meeting on November 17, 2020. TMP-0875 Attachments: Minutes 12-15-20_.pdf A motion was made by Lande, seconded by Hallums Quillman, to approve the minutes of the December 15, 2021 Public Safety Committee Meeting. Mr. Jonathan Marquard briefly discussed Axon services. AXON TASER/SOFTWARE FINAL CONTRACT Page 1 of 3 Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes - Final February 2, 2021 Recommendation to Award to AXON a Four Year TASER/SOFTWARE Contract in the amount of 3,531,000.00. Councilwoman Quillman welcomed Dawn Malec as Interim Police Chief. Interim Police Chief Dawn Malec introduced herself. Deputy Chief Batis briefly discussed the four year contract with AXON. Mr. Braner discussed taser/software and other pieces that come with the AXON package. He briefly discussed the contract with AXON. Councilwoman Quillman asked if Records Management is part of the package or is it separate. Mr. Braner answered. A brief discussion was held regarding taser/software. A motion was made by Lande, seconded by Hallums Quillman, to recommend for approval to the full Council to Award to AXON a Four Year TASER/SOFTWARE Contract in the amount of 3,531,000.00. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Hallums Quillman and Lande Absent: Hug NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION None. Mr. Braner answered. There was a brief discussion on body cameras and tasers. Jonathan Marquard asked about redaction of car footage and transcription of audio software. Mr. Braner answered.
