City of Joliet 150 West Jefferson Street Joliet, IL 60432 Meeting Minutes - Final Thursday, August 4, 2022 3:30 PM City Hall - Council Chambers Tree Advisory Board Tree Advisory Board Meeting Minutes - Final August 4, 2022 Page 1 of 1 Tree Advisory Board Meeting Minutes - Final August 4, 2022 ROLL CALL Present Rita Renwick, Karen Fonte, Betsy Satcher, Mary Schoenheider, Ralph Schultz, Jim Testin and William Bromer ALSO PRESENT: Willie Jaeger and Jim Teiber, City of Joliet APPROVAL OF MINUTES Tree Advisory Minutes - April 7, 2022 ID-836-20 Attachments: April 7, 2022 Tree Advisory Board Minutes A motion was made by Karen Fonte, seconded by Betsy Satcher, to approve the minutes from the April 7, 2022 Tree Advisory Board meeting. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Renwick, Fonte, Jaeger, Satcher, Schoenheider, Schultz, Testin and Bromer CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS Willie thanked everyone for being able to be involved with this committee. ARBORIST REPORT Jim Teiber joined the meeting. Nearly 600 trees were planted. The remaining 400 should be planted the last week of September. There are warranties to newly planted trees. The tree removal contract has been on hold for about two (2) months to remove dead trees. It is in the budget for the list of trees needing pruning to be done. Awaiting for the Supervisor to get back to him. NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION a. Tree Preservation Ordinance / U.S. Forest Service Grant This was approved June 7, 2022. Numerous hours were spent and would not have been possible without the grant received. Concerns discussed were enforcement, canopy, and future surveys for land to be developed. b. Urban Forest Management Plan This is due to be approved by City Council on 8/16/22. A presentation will be given at that meeting to give a synopsis of the Management Plan. The inventory is part of this plan and needs to be kept updated. c. Goals for 2023 Goals for 2023 are: Tree City USA, Growth Award, Public Education d.
