Arborist Report Rita Renwick stated that Jim Tiber, the City Arborist should possibly be back next week. She stated that he emailed her regarding the types of trees being ordered for Arbor Day and also informed her that he was attending the Blue Stem Festival on Bronk Road this year representing the City. Election of Officers Rita Renwick explained the Ordinance that created the Tree Advisory Board. A motion was made by William Bromer, seconded by Betsy Satcher to nominate Rita Renwick for Chair. A motion was made by Jim Testin, seconded by Rita Renwick to nominate William Bromer for Vice Chair. the motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Renwick, Satcher, Bromer and Testin Absent: Fonte, Schoenheider and Schultz Tree City USA status Rita Renwick explains she got it completed with the help from Joe Nordman and Greg Ruddy. She states that she has been notified by the State Forester, Michael Bronk that they have been approved for the Tree City Growth Award and explains the process. Arbor Day 2023 Rita says that Mary Schoenheider has been working with Union School for Arbor Day 2023. She states that Union School is in the City of Joliet. She plans to have the Proclamation and the Poster Contest Winners at the City Council Meeting on April 18, 2023. She stated she will contact the City Clerk to arrange this. Inflation Reduction Act Grant Opportunity Page 1 of 2 Tree Advisory Board Meeting Minutes - Pending Approval February 2, 2023 Rita states that there was a Zoom Forum with the State Forester at CRTI and he said the the State was to get funds from the Inflation Reduction Act. She suggested that a tree inventory can be done of the whole City. Rita explains that the City is in the 8th year for tree planting contract. Olympic Rd. Tree Survey Rita says she just found out about this and got on the list to get notifications on this . The history of the Olympic Rd Project was discussed. Rita said she spoke to Steve Lane from Great Lakes Urban Forest Management who did the survey, which she received a copy of the survey. Goals for 2023 Rita suggested having educational walks, how to trim and care for your trees. Rita suggests having a committee to set up a volunteer group to train in removing branches and prune trees . Rita will check with the Clerk's office for guidance to set up a committee. Also having a pamphlet for homeowners for proper care. Social Media Messaging Rita reviewed the possible topics to be sent via social media messaging through the City's social media sites.
