The committee will be looking for a replacement. For the voting of the approval of minutes from 02-01-2024 it did not state the members that were present. 2. The School name was not listed on the Arbor Day Plans. A motion was made by Mary Schoenheider, seconded by Betsy Satcher, to approve the April 4, 2024 Tree Advisory Minutes, as amended. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Fonte, Renwick, Satcher, Schoenheider and Testin Absent: Schultz and Van Dyke CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS No one present. 1. Arbor Day - 2024 Review Rita Renwick discussed the Arbor Day events for 2024. This year, there were 750 trees given away. Rita said she distributed trees to various areas in the City. 2. CN / AIB Grant The media event that was to take place on 6-25-24 got postponed until 10-8-24. The Judges came July 14, 15, and 16th and were taken around the City. 3. Inflation Reduction Act Grant Rita Renwick said they were awarded the grant. They were granted $216,519.00. and it needs to be used by the fall of 2027. Rita was told that the tree inventory bid will go out this year. Once the inventory is complete, then they would meet with people within the community and ask what they would want planted in their neighborhood. 4. Growing Contract The growing contract will be in the budget for 2025. The spring planting was completed. NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION None at this time. Next Meeting October 3, 2024 PUBLIC COMMENT Mary Schoenheider asked if Rita will be asking questions regarding the types of trees that will be planted in order to have tree diversity. Jim Testin attended a meeting for the Chicago Region Tree Initiative and said there will be a tree conference in October 2024. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Karen Fonte, seconded by Betsy Satcher, to adjourn.
