In compliance with Governor Pritzker’s mandate, any individual appearing in person must wear a face-covering to cover their nose and mouth. Ms. Kollross appeared in support of her petition. Ms. Kollross said the addition is for a kitchen renovation. Chairman Hennessy asked if anyone else would like to speak on behalf of this petition. Mr. Schlange gave an overview of the proposed project. Chairman Hennessy asked if anyone else would like to speak on behalf of this petition. No one came forward. A motion was made by Bob Nachtrieb, seconded by Brigette Roehr, to approve PETITION 2022-02: A Special Use Permit for truck and trailer repair, truck and trailer sales and truck parking, located at 198 W. Laraway Road. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Hennessy, Alessio, Nachtrieb, Riggs, Roehr and McShane PETITION 2022-03: Special Use Permits to allow a day care TMP-3101 center, after-school care, and summer day camp and permanent supportive housing, located at 1350 S. Washington St., Joliet, IL. Ms. Perzee appeared in support of her petition. Ms. Perzee said that MorningStar Mission does their own background checks through the Illinois State Police and they pay for the background checks themselves. Ms. Perzee said they would be more than happy to provide them to the Joliet Police Department. Ms. Perzee said there will not be any cross between the housing and daycare portions of the facility. Ms. Perzee said this project is privately-funded, there are no city, state or federal funds involved. Mr. Nachtrieb asked how the permanent residents will be kept away from the daycare. Ms. Perzee said the daycare will be locked and you must buzz in for access. Ms. Perzee said the individuals for short-term housing must be referred. Ms. Perzee said the daycare is open to all children. Mr. Riggs asked if public transportation will be available, Ms. Perzee said no. Mr. Riggs said in the past Ms. Perzee stated public transportation must be available. Ms. Perzee said this is a different program and the residents must have their own vehicle or transportation. Mr. McShane asked who will be supervising the children and residents, Ms. Perzee said paid staff will be onsite when children are in the building. Ms. Roehr asked if there will be outdoor activity, Ms. Perzee said yes they will add on to the outdoor play area. Ms. Perzee said the short-term residents will be case managed and go through programs like homeownership classes to help them obtain permanent housing. Ms. Roehr asked who is managing the background checks and who will follow-up with updates, Ms. Perzee said they will request the background checks from the Illinois State Police and the FBI.
