Mayor Ken Koelsch wants add a new display case for the Sister Cities in the City Hall Chambers, and for it to be a duplicate of the current display case with the torch: 36” high, 22” wide, 4” deep. b. Recommend a plaque be added to the display case to show it is for the Sister Cities Committee. c. Additional display: Sister Cities fact sheet, contact names, and our website. e. Ask for 3 keys to be made for the new display case and one of them should go to the chair of the Sister Cities Committee so that we can change the display case when we need to. 4. Signpost We would like to add our sister cities names and locations to the signpost in downtown Juneau, Marsha will inquire as to who owns that signpost and if our additions would be acceptable. 5. July 4th Parade The recent spur of activity between Juneau and Whitehorse has greatly benefited both cities, and been great press. We need to consider how often to perform such exchanges, with the 150th anniversary in Canada next year (Canada Day), it would be a great gesture to send our citizens up to Whitehorse, both JPD and several others, to create a Juneau Presence in Whitehorse. We need to determine who would best represent Juneau in that celebration: JPD, UAS professors, travel industry personnel, etc. We must also consider to make the parade a bi-annual event, next year JPD will go up to Whitehorse (2017), but then Whitehorse will come down and visit Juneau in 2018, and in order to make our support know to Whitehorse we need to set aside funds to rent a car for any visiting mayor from a sister city that wants to participate in the parade. 6. Filcom update Susan will meet with Larry’s replacement on the Filcom board and discuss our committee’s future involvement with them. 7. Becoming a Coast Guard City We will review the necessary steps and guidelines to become a Coast Guard City. 8. Becoming a Coast Guard City Maria is working with Matt York on this. 9. Contact with Sister Cities The State department has been informed of our non-communication with several of our Sister Cities and they will attempt to contact them on our behalf to see if there are any people interested in continuing our Sister City relationship.
