Roll Call: Members Present: Leah Farzin, Jason Soza, Ryan Kauzlarich, Kirk Duncan, Jake Thayer Members Absent: Josh Fortenbery, Alex Smith Staff Present: Lauren Anderson – Treadwell Arena Manager, George Schaaf – Parks & Rec Director Public Present: Melissa Fritsch – Juneau Skating Club President III. Approval of Agenda: Mr. Kauzlarich moved to approve the agenda. All in favor. IV. Approval of Minutes: Mr. Kauzlarich moved to approve June 10, 2020 draft meeting minutes – no changes. V. Public Participation on Non-Agenda Items: VI. Agenda Topics: A. Rink Ventilation - Lauren has worked with building maintenance, with Sigrid Dalberg, and others in an effort to reduce potential viral load using the rink ventilation. No plan of action as of yet. - Will cover this topic again once more information is available. VII. Staff Reports: A. Reopening Plan - Reviewed the reopening plan in detail. - The arena has been making ice since 7/19/2020. - Had paint available on hand for the limited amount needed. B. Draft July/August Rink schedule - Lauren has been meeting weekly with the core user groups for past six weeks. - JDIA and JSC have rented ice for August. - Opening day will be July 29, 2020. - Currently no public sessions. VIII. Committee, Liaison, Board Member Report: A. Juneau Skating Club - Starting very conservative. 10 skaters on the ice at a time, with the exception of synchro which will have close to 14. Working on September plan with longer blocks of ice and less 45 breaks between ice times. - Until public sessions are available, Learn to Skate classes will not occur out of an abundance of caution. Higher level classes will be the first to be offered when lessons begin. B. Juneau Adult Hockey Association - Registration is open. The first games of the season are the first Sunday of September. Trying to maximize games with the hours available. Caping the number of players per team to 11, usually 13. Intro to hockey will not be offered this fall. C. Juneau Douglas Ice Association Packet Page 4 of 7 - Going to offer a pond hockey style training for those 10 years and younger. Will have no more than 28 skaters on the ice. Registration should be up this Friday. D. Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee - No update. IX. Next meeting Date – August 25, 2020 at 5:30pm, preferably Zoom meeting X.
