Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Special Advisory Board Meeting - Minutes July 1, 2025 5:30 – 6:30pm th 7 Floor, City Hall Lansing, MI Call to Order: 5:40pm Attendance: Cheryl Horn-Bernard, DeAnna Brown, Emily Sorroche, Terry Frazier New Member Introduction: DeAnna Brown Agenda Approved: Terry Moved; 2nd Cheryl Approval of Minutes from April 22, 2025: Terry Moved; 2nd Cheryl Public Comments: None Director’s Update: • Completed homeless assessment; provide a summary to the board; can provide details if anyone would like to review Culture & Accountability Officers Update • New city design considerations update • Shared contact information and turn information for the DEI Advisory Board • Celebration of Diversity was a wonderful program and thank you to those who attended. o Planning for next year’s event Starting Jan / Feb • MRJEA Accomplishments were shared update June 2025 Standing Theme Update • Justice & Safety – no report • Economic Empowerment – Business Toolkit to start a business. • Community Sustainability – Community conversation about the Lansing’s Path Forward end of April Unfinished Business: • How the board can help with ideas in the building of the new City Hall • Human Rights Recommendation status update (will get a status update next meeting) • Lansing Path Forward -need to be assigned to committee work; Full report will be emailed to the committee New Business • New City Hall building o Can we add a Land Acknowledgment • New Member to the Board is DeAnna Brown • Florensio Hernadez resigned – Review Letter Announcements • 4th of July Parade open to walk • July 9-10th MSU Impact conference Meeting Adjourned: Cheryl Moved; 2nd Terry 6:25pm Members: Emily Sorroche, Terry Frazier, Cheryl Horn - Bernard, DeAnna Brown 2
