AT THE LOMBARD VILLAGE HALL, COMMUNITY ROOM, 255 EAST WILSON AVENUE, LOMBARD, ILLINOIS. NOTICE OF MEETING MODIFICATION DUE TO COVID-19 In light of Public Act 101-0640, which created new Section 7(e) of the Open Meetings Act, and as a Disaster Declaration has been issued by the Governor of the State of Illinois relative to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chairman of the Community Promotion and Tourism Committee has determined that an in-person meeting of the Committee, or a meeting conducted under the Open Meetings Act requirements, relative to a quorum of the members of the Village Board having to be physically present at a meeting when some members of the Village Board are participating remotely, is not practical or prudent because of the disaster. In this regard, members of the Community Promotion and Tourism Committee may be participating in the meeting through a virtual meeting platform. 1.0 Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Bernie Dudek at 7:02 pm. Village of Lombard Page 1 Community Promotion & Tourism Minutes June 1, 2021 Nicole Aranas led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. 2.0 Roll Call Present 6 - Bernie Dudek, Marguerite Micken, Jill Payne, Joe Orsolini, Phil Dahm, and Nicholas Piron Absent 2 - Nancy Schukat, and Brad Hanewall Also in attendance: Beth Marchetti, DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau, Melissa Infusino, Lombard Chamber of Commerce and Nicole Aranas, Staff Liaison. 3.0 Public Participation None. 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Phil Dahm, seconded by Joe Orsolini, to approve the minutes of the March 2, 2021, committee meeting. The motion was approved unanimously. 5.0 Old Business None. 6.0 New Business 210172 DuPage Convention and Tourism Bureau Update by Beth Marchetti of the DCVB on hospitality and tourism in DuPage County. A presentation was made by Beth Marchetti, DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau, on the current status of tourism in Illinois. The presentation included a review of DCVB, the importance of tourism, the impact of COVID, campaigns and sports tourism. Melissa Infusino of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce stated there is interest from the chamber to partner on the Lombard bike race. Committee member Joe Orsolini stated that the hotel industry is an important sector with good paying jobs. From the Chamber standpoint, hospitality is the largest Village of Lombard Page 2 Community Promotion & Tourism Minutes June 1, 2021 sector of their membership and an important part of our business economy. Melissa also said she is working with the high school to connect students with the hotels to fill vacant positions. Beth said moving forward, there will be a lot of managing expectations on the customer side. 210173 Hotel/Motel Budget Mid-year update Update of the current Hotel/Motel budget presented by Nicole Aranas. A presentation was made by Nicole Aranas with a mid-year review of the 2021 Hotel/Motel budget which included discussion regarding revenues over the years, impact of COVID-19 on the budget, how budget deficits have been funded, and review of the Hotel/Motel fund balance. 210177 American Rescue Plan Funding Discussion concerning potential for use of Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery funds through the American Rescue Plan to support the tourism, travel, and hospitality industries. Discussion of American Rescue Plan Funding. Nicole Aranas informed the committee of the possibility of ARP Federal funding that can be used towards supporting the hotel and tourism sector. The Village needs to await receipt of the funds from the US Treasury along with rules. Ultimately the Finance Committee will recommend, and the Village Board will approve, how these funds should be used. The Committee requested that staff look into options for use of some of the federal funding and return for further discussion at a subsequent meeting. 7.0 Other Business None. 8.0 Information Only None. 9.0 Adjournment A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Jill Payne, Seconded Marguerite Micken.
