Gerhardt Community Room 1.0 Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Bernie Dudek at 7:01 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Bernie Dudek. 2.0 Roll Call Present 5 - Bernie Dudek, Joe Orsolini, Nancy Schukat, Nicholas Piron, and Gayle Kankovsky Absent 1 - Marguerite Micken Also present: Nicole Aranas, Staff Liaison, Allison Costanza, Lombard Historical Society, and Beth Marchetti, DuPage Convention and Visitors' Bureau 3.0 Public Participation 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion to approve the minutes of the June 6, 2023 meeting was made by Nancy Schukat, seconded by Joe Orsolini. The motion passed by unanimous vote. Village of Lombard Page 1 Community Promotion & Tourism Minutes September 5, 2023 5.0 Old Business 6.0 New Business 230295 2024 Local Tourism Grant Program Review of the 2024 Local Tourism Grant Program. Nicole Aranas, Staff Liaison, made a presentation on the 2024 Local Tourism Grant Program. The Committee discussed elements of the program including the types of organizations that would apply and possible events. The Committee raised questions regarding requiring organizations to have 501(c) status in order to apply for a grant. After continued discussion, it was agreed that applicants must be a not for profit organization registered with the State of Illinois and have been in existence for 2 years. Motion was made by Joe Orsolini, seconded by Gayle Kankovsky, to approve the 2024 Local Grant Tourism Program. The motion was approved by all. 230296 2024 Hotel/Motel Budget Review of the 2024 Hotel/Motel Budget. Nicole Aranas, Staff Liaison, made a presentation on the 2024 Hotel/Motel Budget. The Committee reviewed reports and receipts for previous revenue numbers. Committee Member, Nick Piron, indicated that he would like to see how the funds are spent and would like to keep track of revenue. Motion made by Nick Piron, seconded by Gayle Kankovsky, to approve the 2024 Hotel/Motel Budget. The motion was approved by all. 7.0 Other Business 8.0 Information Only Allison Costanza, Lombard Historical Society, made a presentation and provided updates on the activities of the Lombard Historical Society. Beth Marchetti, Dupage Convention and Visitors' Bureau, provided a recap of the Intelligentsia Cup series in Lombard and Illinois. Statistics indicated that there were 5,475 entries which was the highest ever. There were riders from 47 states, 17 countries, and approximately 30% of riders were female which was an all time high. Lombard had 300 hotel stays and 35 more riders than the previous year. A bike was won by a resident of LaGrange and $225 was donated to the Special Village of Lombard Page 2 Community Promotion & Tourism Minutes September 5, 2023 Olympics through the raffle. 9.0 Adjournment A motion was made by Gayle Kankovsky, seconded by Joe Orsolini to adjourn the meeting at 8:41 p.m. The motion passed by a unanimous vote.
