Request to discuss the 2013 Senior Fair in regard to:
*Tote bags
*List of vendors
*Waiting list of vendors
*Banner
The Committee reviewed a list of past Senior Fair vendors and those who had
already indicated interest in participating again this year. Bridget Doyle said she
would bring back an updated list to the next meeting so the group could discuss if
there was any room to tap into waiting vendors.
Ms. Doyle brought four examples of past tote bags given away at the Senior Fair and
the Committee weighed in on the pros and cons of each. The Committee agreed the
green bag with a wider base was the most popular because it was best for toting
groceries. The Committee suggested the Village look into a bag similar to the green
bag for the 2013 giveaway.
The Committee agreed the Senior of the Year press release should go out the last
week in July in order to give residents adequate time to nominate seniors. Other
Committee members discussed the importance of getting the press release and
pertinent information into church bulletins, local pharmacies, the Senior Center and at
the Library. The Committee discussed better signage on the actual day of the Senior
Fair. Ms. Doyle said she would touch base with Public Works to ask how to have a
banner made to better identify Senior Fair at the Community Building.
The Committee discussed the time commitment for Senior Fair indicating that it is
generally 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the day of the actual fair. Various Committee members
indicated they would be able to volunteer for an amount of time at this year’s fair . Ms.
Doyle said she plans to bring a sign-up sheet to the next meeting.
