Gladys Piper lead the Committee in the Pledge of Allegiance. 2.0 Roll Call Present 6 - Trustee Dan Whittington, Pamela Bedard, Michael Ledonne, Barbara Ware, Gladys Piper, and Jenny Swensen Absent 3 - Lisa Biegalski, Ahmed Ali, and Sharon Vish Also present: Nicole Aranas, Assistant Village Manager. 3.0 Public Participation None. 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Pamela Bedard, seconded by Gladys Piper, to approve the minutes of the January 13, 2015 meeting. The motion passed by a unanimous vote. 5.0 Old Business 130274 Youth Leadership Program Discussion of details of the 2015 Program. Chairperson Whittington gave an overview of the 2015 Youth Leadership Academy. In light of the success of the program in 2014, this year the leadership course has been extended by one session. The academy will take place over the course of four consecutive Thursdays. There will be three days of discussions and presentations with the Village departments and the final Thursday will be a reception and presentation at the Village Village of Lombard Page 1 Community Relations Committee Minutes February 9, 2015 Board of Trustees meeting. The program will be advertised through all the high schools to Lombard students. Michael Ledonne stated that the program provides a good opportunity for students to get exposure to government. The program is great for students who may have an interest in government or getting involved with their community. Chairperson Whittington commended Village staff for the presentations they offered to the students. Given the amount of information there is to share the activities that are planned for the students, the additional week is needed. Pamela Bedard suggested that the students get an opportunity to get up to the dais within the Village Board room. The program is a good change for the students to learn about government while they are young. Barbara Ware stated that it would be good to get the applications out to the schools early. Chairperson Whittington stated that the next program following the Youth Leadership Academy will be the Junior Firefighter Academy. 6.0 New Business None. 7.0 Other Business None. 8.0 Information Only None. 9.0 Adjournment A motion was made by Michael Ledonne, seconded by Pamela Bedard, to adjourn the meeting at 7:23 p.m. The motion passed by a unanimous vote.
