Village Hall Village of Lombard 255 East Wilson Ave. Lombard, IL 60148 villageoflombard.org Minutes Community Relations Committee Trustee Robyn Pike - Chairperson Trustee Bill Ware - Alternate Chairperson, Pamela Bedard, Ahmed Ali, Michael Ledonne, Sharon Vish, Barb Ware, Gladys Piper & Anthony Pacilli Staff Liaison - Avis Meade Monday, February 8, 2016 7:00 PM Trustee's Conference Room 1.0 Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The meeting was called to order by Trustee Robyn Pike at 7:05 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Robyn Pike. 2.0 Roll Call Present 6 - Robyn Pike, Pamela Bedard, Sharon Vish, Barbara Ware, Michael Ledonne, and Anthony Pacilli Absent 2 - Ahmed Ali, and Gladys Piper Also present: Staff Liaison, Avis Meade. 3.0 Public Participation None. 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Michael Ledonne, seconded by Anthony Pacilli, to approve the minutes of the January 11, 2016, committee meeting. The motion passed by unanimous vote 5.0 Old Business 130274 Youth Leadership Program Efforts to develop an in-class program with Glenbard East have not progressed. The Committee will need to decide to either postpone the Village of Lombard Page 1 Community Relations Committee Minutes February 8, 2016 program for 2016 or to revert to the original format of hosting on-site classes at Village Hall and determine a possible schedule and timeframe for the program. A schedule for the 2016 Youth Leadership Program was reviewed. Avis Meade will promote the event. It has already been in the Pride, and the Village website, www.Villageoflombard.org/youthleadership, will be updated with this year’s information. The schedule includes April 7, 4-6 p.m. at Village Hall, April 14, 4 - 6 p.m. at Fire Station 2, and April 21, 7 - 9 p.m., where students will be recognized by the Village Board for their participation. 160027 Union Pacific Railroad Mural Art Program Trustee Robyn Pike and Avis Meade will present findings of mural research, including pricing, the art selection process and challenges that other communities have experienced. Trustee Robyn Pike presented information from surrounding communities pertaining to mural art programs. Upon review, the Community Relations Committee unanimously agreed that due to unfunded State mandates and a long term Village budget deficit; this program should not be pursued at this time. The committee agreed that the cost and non-ideal location of retaining walls in question. 6.0 New Business None. 7.0 Other Business None. 8.0 Information Only Article from IML Magazine (Illinois Municipal League) on Challenges Connecting with Millennials. An article from IML Magazine was distributed. Members are encouraged to read and learn about how millennials view local government.
