Village Hall Village of Lombard 255 East Wilson Ave. Lombard, IL 60148 villageoflombard.org Minutes Community Relations Committee Trustee Robyn Pike - Chairperson Trustee Bill Ware - Alternate Chairperson, Pamela Bedard, Ahmed Ali, Michael Ledonne, Sharon Vish, Barb Ware, Gladys Piper & Anthony Pacilli Staff Liaison - Avis Meade Monday, June 13, 2016 7:00 PM Trustee's Conference Room 1.0 Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Robyn Pike at 7:03 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Gladys Piper. 2.0 Roll Call Present 7 - Robyn Pike, Pamela Bedard, Sharon Vish, Ahmed Ali, Barbara Ware, Gladys Piper, and Anthony Pacilli Absent 1 - Michael Ledonne Also present: Staff Liaison, Avis Meade 3.0 Public Participation None. 4.0 Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Pam Bedard, seconded by Ahmed Ali, to approve the minutes of the March 14, 2016, committee meeting. The motion passed by unanimous vote. 5.0 Old Business 130274 Youth Leadership Program Discuss the future format of the Youth Leadership Program. The 2016 Youth Leadership Program was cancelled due to lack of enrollment. The Community Relations Committee has agreed to attempt to hold Village of Lombard Page 1 Community Relations Committee Minutes June 13, 2016 the program in February 2017, as opposed to early April, in order to better suit the schedules of interested students. 160085 Long Range Plan Communication Efforts (LRP) - Review of the proposed Pride printing schedule adjustments. - Review the Places for Eating Tax Communications Plan. - Review of the Communications Plan regarding the Senior Taxi Subsidy program and additional information sheet. The Community Relations Committee reviewed components of the Long Range Plan including the proposed pride printing schedule, Places for Eating Tax communications Plan and the Communications plan regarding the Senior Taxi Subsidy program. Pending Board approval, the Long Range Plan will be implemented January 1, 2017. The Community Relations Committee confirmed that Village staff will be communicating changes to the residents in an effective manner. The Committee also requested more information on whether surrounding communities have a printed newsletter, or if it’s a digital newsletter. Avis Meade will research this and will present findings to the Committee at the next Community Relations Committee meeting. 150372 National Citizen Survey The Village Board of Trustees approved the contracting of the National Research Center to facilitate the National Citizen Survey to 3,000 randomly selected Lombard residences. This equates to 6.2% of Lombard's 18,603 residences. The Committee will review the custom questions and final questions that have been developed by National Research Center and village staff. A memo was presented to the Community Relations Committee regarding the National Citizen Survey. The Village Board has determined that a Village-wide survey is necessary as part of Lombard’s Strategic Plan, and staff recommends the National Citizen Survey. The Community Relations Committee opted to increase the sample size of homes from a standard 1,500 to 3,000. This recommendation will be sent to the Village Board for final approval on July 21, 2016. 6.0 New Business 160274 Senior Fair 2016 Review Senior of the Year nomination submissions and select a Senior Man and Senior Woman to be announced at the 2016 Senior Fair. The 2016 Senior Fair will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., at Lombard Common Park. A “Did You Know” flyer pertaining to ride options for seniors will be handed out as resource material. 7.0 Other Business 8.0 Information Only 9.0 Adjournment A Motion was made by Barb Ware and seconded by Anthony Pacilli, to adjourn the meeting at 7:58 p.m. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
