Roll Call Present 6 - Tom Fetters, Eileen Mueller, Lyn Myers, Patricia Poskocil, Marcy Novak, and Bob Wardzala Absent 5 - Rita Schneider, Brigitte O'Brien, Jennifer Henaghan, Stephanie Zabela, and Lynn O'Donnell Also Present: Sharon Kuderna, Village Clerk, Village Liaison and Tami Urish, Planner I, Staff Liaison. Approval of Minutes On a motion by Commissioner Poskocil, and seconded by Commissioner Mueller, the minutes of the May 15, 2018 were approved with noted corrections. The motion passed by a unanimous vote. Public Hearings There were no members of the public present Village of Lombard Page 1 Lombard Historic Preservation Minutes July 17, 2018 Commission Chairman's Report None Reports A. Local Landmarks - Eileen Mueller 180193 Local Landmark: 134 W. St. Charles Road Plaque Discussion (DISTRICT #1) The Commissioners discussed the possible updates to the design of the landmark plaques and decided to keep with the existing format without an award date. 180199 305 Morningside Avenue Appeal of Certificate of Appropriateness Decision Update. (DISTRICT #5) Ms. Urish informed the Commissioners that the property owner’s request for the appeal of the HPC decision and removal of landmark designation will be heard by the Village Board for a second and final reading on July 19, 2018. B. Finance None C. Personnel - Pat Poskocil Commissioner Poskocil stated that the museum staff is busy with the Civil War Encampment in addition to other projects. D. Ex-Officio Report - Leslie Sulla Lombard Historical Society President, Leslie Sulla, provided copies of the following report as summarized: Highlights: 2018 Cash Raffle - all proceeds to pay off the loan for the Peck Foundation repairs. Drawing will be Sunday, July 29. Civil War Encampment July 28 & 29 at Four Seasons Park. Village of Lombard Page 2 Lombard Historic Preservation Minutes July 17, 2018 Commission The Peck Garden is now accessible! The Lombard Park District extended a ramp into the garden and built raised garden beds. Visitors can enjoy the colors, scents, and feel of our sensory garden. Cucumbers have begun being harvested. A new exhibit coming to Carriage House August - September: “Vinyl Warning” - a record collection. Public Works will be adding a sidewalk to Plum’s potting shed (formerly chicken coop) and have given preliminary approval for HVAC. The plan is to turn the structure into a gift shop. Program Coordinator Colette Freeman attended a June conference “Reinventing the Historic House Museum.” Topics ranged from fundraising to membership to volunteers. She’s working on how to implement some of the suggestions. Programs: Every Thursday through August - 6-8pm - Peck Homestead open; games and possible campfire (weather dependent). Free. Various Thursdays - 1:30pm - Kim Goes Wild Nature Camp. Education Coordinator Kim White brings animals and crafts to the Peck. $5 Fri, Aug 10 - 7pm - Gazebo. Booth Shot Lincoln: Folksongs of Illinois 1818 to 1960. Musician Bucky Halker performs. Free; bring a folding chair. Tues, Aug 14, 7pm - Take the Fear out of Canning (at Cottage) Third Wednesdays - 7pm - Euchre Society. Everyone is welcome at the Cottage to play the most popular card game in the US during the Victorian era. E. Heritage Award - Lyn Myers Commissioner Myers informed the Commission that there would not be an award for 2018 due to the solicitation of nominations was not provided in advance of the July meeting. F. Certified Local Government 180198 National Register of Historic Places Application - Lilacia Park Commissioner Myers reported in Chairperson Schneider absence that the grant allocation was awarded for $11,250 for the preparation of a National Register of Historic Places application. Preparation of a Request for Proposals is underway. The IHPA had comments regarding the preliminary application. Village of Lombard Page 3 Lombard Historic Preservation Minutes July 17, 2018 Commission Planner's Report 1. McKee House Update Ms. Urish informed the Commissioners that the Churchill Woods Forest Preserve including the McKee House was annexed by the Village of Glen Ellyn therefore it is no longer within the jurisdiction of the Village of Lombard. 2. Ordinance 7541 for Text Amendment to Section 32.079(G) Ms. Urish informed the Commissioners that the text amendment as drafted by the Village Attorney was approved by the Village Board. The property owner of 305 E. Morningside will be notified after/if the final action is approved by the Board that the plaque is to be returned to the Village.
