Jack Jones led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call Present 2 - Jack Jones, and Marcy Novak Absent 1 - Eileen Mueller Also present: Rita Schneider, Commission Chairperson; Jennifer Ganser, Assistant Director of Community Development; Tami Urish, Planner I. Public Hearings Business Meeting Approval of Minutes The minutes of the July 9, 2014 meeting were approved by Marcy Novak with no changes. The motion was seconded by Jack Jones. All were in favor, the motion passed. Planner's Report Village of Lombard Page 1 Lombard Historical Commission Minutes June 26, 2014 Unfinished Business 130270 Chicago, Aurora and Elgin Railroad/ Prairie Path Discussion relative to Commemorative Signage. The committee discussed the work that needs to be done in preparation for the signs to be erected along the prairie path. Marcy suggested that a story about the proposed signs be distributed to the public in order to solicit community input. For example, perhaps a resident has a personal photo of historic train activity that he or she may be willing to share. Jack volunteered to go to the museum to examine the photos on file. Marcy volunteered to accompany Jack to the museum to match a narrative to the photos selected. With a three person committee, two people working together would constitute a meeting that would require the open meeting provisions to be enacted in advance. At this time Jack will attend the museum alone to review photos. Rita stated that she will review the option of appointing another committee member to the Local Landmarks Committee so that two committee members can work together on projects. 130213 Local Landmark Survey Discussion relative to updating the inventory of local landmarks. The committee discussed findings submitted by the consultant, Douglas Gilbert. The 38 sites from the original survey were reviewed. A total of 103 sites will be reviewed as part of the new survey. The survey is being done in quadrants with approximately 75% of the survey complete. Jennifer gave an overview of how the survey forms for each site will be posted on the website and that changes/updates can be made after the posting. Rita has had discussions at a recent budget meeting that $1500 will be allocated in 2015 to expand the survey to include more sites. New Business The committee members would like the agenda to follow the Robert’s Rule of Order. In other words, New Business should follow Unfinished Business. Other Business should be removed because it is not applicable or relevant. It was decided that having the meeting in the evening the day before or the day of directly preceding the Historical Commission meeting may work out best in the future.
