Discussion of pending local landmark at 101 W. St. Charles Road.
(DISTRICT #1)
The Commissioners briefly discussed the application submitted for a
landmark site request of 101 W. St. Charles Road. It was agreed that
if there was one place for designation in Lombard, this would be it.
On a motion by Commissioner Henaghan, and a second by Commissioner
Novak, the Local Landmark Committee recommends that the Historical
Commission approve the request of a landmark site for 101 W. St. Charles
Road based on Section 32.079 (C) (1) The character, interest, or value as part of
the development, heritage, or cultural characteristics of the village and Section
32.079 (C) (3) The architectural significance of a building which is at least 50
years of age and is a good example of a specific architectural style containing
distinctive elements of design, detail, materials, or craftsmanship, or is an
example of a style which had an impact on the community. Such a building
must retain much of its original architectural integrity. The recommendation is
according to the facts included in the application. All were in favor of the
motion.
The Commissioners discussed with the attending audience the
process, possible benefits and restrictions involved with a landmark
site designation
Adjournment
On a motion by Commissioner Henaghan and seconded by Jack Jones, the
meeting was adjourned at 4:45 pm.
