the signage project. The Commissioners discussed whether to
continue searching for material or to use what has been acquired.
Commissioner Henaghan stated that completing the project with what
is available at this time would be preferred. All the committee
members agreed.
Commissioner Fetters shared an article concerning the topic of
photographs dated prior to 1923 does not require copyright permission
to be published.
The Westmore Station was discussed and reviewed by the
Commissioners. The narrative was read aloud and minor changes
were made. Two photographs were chosen, one acquired from the
Villa Park Historical Society and another from the Lombard Historical
Society archives. Commissioner Henaghan questioned the use of the
title Lombard Historic Site on the signage as to whether the use of the
title would imply that it had been granted status as a landmark. The
Commissioners discussed and decided that the title is accurate and
seeking landmark status would not be necessary since they are simply
markers of past sites that no longer exist.
The Stewart Avenue Station was discussed and reviewed by the
Commissioners. The narrative was read aloud and minor changes
were made. Two photographs were chosen, one to be acquired from
a book at the library and another from the Lombard Historical Society
archives of a train or engine that is not necessarily of the site.
Chairperson Schneider stated that she will attempt to contact Joe
about scanning the photos.
The Main Street Station was discussed and reviewed by the
Commissioners. The narrative was read aloud and minor changes
were made. Two photographs were chosen, one from the Lombard
Historical Society archives with milk cans in the foreground and
another photo with a power station in the background, from an
unknown source.
The Green Valley (Brewster Avenue) Station was discussed and
reviewed by the Commissioners. The narrative was read aloud and
minor changes were made. Two photographs were chosen from the
Strahorn Library.
Staff was directed to contact Serge Ruffolo for advise on the quality of
the Village’s scanning and to correct the narratives with copies mailed
to the Committee members.
