The motion passed by an unanimous vote. 130614 Terrace View Pond Improvements, Change Order No. 4 Reflecting an increase to the contract with Martam Construction, Inc. in the amount of $21,335.10. (DISTRICT #1) 130631 2013 Driveway Apron, Curb and Sidewalk Restoration Program, Final Balancing Change Order No. 2 Reflecting a decrease to the contract with Kings Point General Cement in the amount of $92,198.05. (DISTRICTS - ALL) 130640 Finley Road Pavement Rehabilitation, Ph 2, Change Order No. 5 Reflecting a decrease to the contract with ALamp Concrete Contractors in the amount of $10,711.06. (DISTRICT #1) 5.0 Old Business 6.0 New Business 130446 Village Board Sidewalk Policy - 6.D. The Department of Public Works requests that Public Works Committee recommend that the Village Board of Trustees adopt the amended Sidewalk Policy (6.D.). Goldsmith reviewed the changes to the Sidewalk Policy (6.D). Arnold: sidewalk issue keeps coming back. Why not just pass an ordinance to require people to have a sidewalk in front of their house by a certain date? Not sure if that will work, but I am throwing it out there. Ware: hard for us to force a homeowner to install a sidewalk in front of a house that they bought without a sidewalk. Mahal: agree with Dave. Noticed that the trip hazard program only spent $30 K of the $75 K that was budgeted. Goldsmith: dependent on the calls and work orders that we get. Kuehl: Fill in the Gap - why not make B (1) 50/50 also? Arnold: I don't believe there is even a need for this Village of Lombard Page 1 Public Works Committee Minutes January 14, 2014 anymore. Glazier: agree with Art, why not be make it consistent at 50/50? Consensus of the committee was to leave this the way that it is. A motion was made by Robert Bachner, seconded by Arthur Kuehl, that this Request be recommended to the Board of Trustees for approval . The motion passed by an unanimous vote. 7.0 Other Business Glazier: question about snow removal, specifically regarding Main St. and St. Charles Rd. How long of a time frame is it normally to remove the windrow? Goldsmith: goal is to remove within 24 hours. Glazier: why have the streets not been plowed curb to curb? Goldsmith: we have an AAR tomorrow and will be addressing this issue. There are quite a few new employees and this is going to be addressed. Kuehl: what about using sand when the salt will not work? Goldsmith: couldn't get sand - it was frozen! Arnold: striping? Goldsmith: have $50 K budgeted in the CIP this year. Realized that thermal tape does not work. Arnold: when will we be seeing paint on the pavement? Dratnol: this summer. Discussion ensued regarding towns partnering on some services in order to save some money. Goldsmith: talked with the committee about the dedication ceremony of the Keith J. Surges Center on Thursday, 1/16/14 at the Board meeting. 8.0 Information Only 970045 Project Status Report 980212 Change Order Report 9.0 Adjournment A motion was made by Dan Mahal, seconded by Arthur Kuehl, that this meeting be adjourned at 7:40 PM.
