Dana Moreau on behalf of Pleasant Lane School
Chairperson Foltyniewicz rearranged the agenda to discuss item
140029 first to accomodate the resident in attendance.
140029 Berkshire Avenue at Charlotte Street
Request to replace temporary stop signs with permanent stop signs.
(DISTRICT #4)
Dana Moreau explained that currently a temporary stop sign is used
on school days during designated hours. However, many people are
missing the sign and blowing through it. In looking at the MUTCD for
school areas, it recommends consistency in signage. The school is
also used during non-school hours for other activities and there is a
playground there.
Chairperson Foltyniewicz asked if it's done like this anywhere else in
town. Wirsing replied that it is not. Cation asked if kids are let out on
both sides of the school. Moreau answered that they are. General
discussion ensued regarding temporary stop signs.
A motion was made by Gary Cation, seconded by Michael Corso, that this
Request be recommend to the Board of Trustees for Approval . The motion
passed by an unanimous vote.

Wirsing reported that he had someone there and the documentation
states there were no cars. The sight lines are different there and there
is a curve to slow people down. Police staff will check it out again
after it warms up outside and more people are out. Tabled for 6
months.
6.0 New Business
7.0 Other Business
There was discussion regarding left turns from westbound Roosevelt
into Walgreens by Highland Avenue.
Mullins commented that the left turn signal for Meyers onto Butterfield
is too short. Dratnol said he will contact IDOT.
Chairperson Foltyniewicz commented that the northbound Finley onto
westbound Roosevelt traffic gets extremely backed up. He suggested
that an additional left turn lane be added. Dratnol explained that there
is not enough right-of-way to do that. There would have to be wider
receiving lanes so Roosevelt so the roadway itself would have to be
modified.
Corso asked what projects the Village is doing this year. Dratnol
answered; Lombard Meadows, which includes Chase Lane & Chase
Court, reconstruction. It will be a 5 phase project and this is the first
phase.
