Recommendations for Council action, pursuant to Motion (Rodriguez -
Hernandez):
1. DIRECT the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), with the
assistance of the Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP), and
any other relevant departments, to report to Council with
recommendations for establishing a permanent memorial at
Sunland Park. The report should include a proposal for alternate
forms of memorialization or marker of the California Grizzly, its
associated costs, and recommendations for securing funding from
philanthropic donations or grants to support its creation.
2. DIRECT the DCA, working in partnership with the RAP, and relevant
historical and conservation organizations, to report to Council on
how an educational campaign at Sunland Park could also be used
to educate the public about the enduring legacy of the California

contract will be funded by a special fund supported by dedicated funding

(LADBS) relative to the execution of a contract amendment with KPFF
Consulting Engineers for structural engineering training seminar services.
A. COMMUNICATION FROM THE CAO
Recommendation for Council action:
AUTHORIZE the General Manager, Los Angeles Department of
Building and Safety, or designee, to execute a contract amendment
with KPFF Consulting Engineers for structural engineering training
seminar services, in substantial conformance with the draft contract,
attached to the City Administrative report dated June 26, 2024,
which has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney as to
form. The proposed amendment would decrease the contract
compensation by $31,000 and extend the contract term by 17
months resulting in a new maximum compensation amount of
$748,000 with a term of four years and five months, effective May 1,
2020 through September 30, 2024.

B. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE LADBS
Recommendation for Council action:
RECEIVE and FILE the CAO report dated June 26, 2024, attached
to Council file No. 24-0810, inasmuch as no Council action is
needed at this time because further revisions are required to the
existing contract.
Fiscal Impact Statement: The CAO reports that there is no impact to the
General Fund. The proposed contract will be fully funded by the Building
and Safety Building Permit Enterprise Fund (48R).
Financial Policies Statement: The CAO reports that the recommendations
in the report comply with the City's Financial Policies in that the proposed
contract will be funded by a special fund supported by dedicated funding
sources and expenditures will be limited to the mandates of the funding
source.

subsequent vendor in the amount of $50,000 in order to process refunds and for
administrative costs.
3. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to receive a reimbursement of any unexpended
funds from Data Ticket, or a subsequent vendor, and deposit into Fund No.
100/59, Revenue Source No. 5188 – Miscellaneous Revenue – Others.
4. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney, or designee, to make necessary technical
adjustments, subject to the approval of the City Administrative Officer; and,
AUTHORIZE the Controller to implement the instructions.
